C'mon hockey gods... you owe us! We aint getting a top 2 pick lets just face facts. Now, what do we do when we get pick 3, 4 or 5. Is there a boa fide #2 offensive center in this draft? I am totally open to JB shopping the pick for a young #2 center. This franchise is going nowhere without one so lets figure it out

No I was a little disappointed at first but I support Bennings vision of building from the net out. He has demko in net, Juolevi, Stecher, Hutton, (supposedly Tryamkin), and he has a good group of skilled forwards that will be our next core that will hopefully gel over the next few years before running the show here. Watching Juolevi play when I could, I could see how smooth and effortless he was in his own zone. He is very fast at moving the puck to a safe area for a forward to pick up and then also moving out of the way of the incoming hit. His outlet passes are on point. Watching some highlights of him on the PP, he knows where to shoot the puck for it to be most effective whether it's straight forward to the net or angled just away where one his forwards can tip it in. Very smart player with and without the puck. We need premier defencemen here and he is going to be huge in the future. I do like what Tkachuk brings to the Flames, he can be a pest and provide offense, he will be a thorn in everyone's side for years to come. I like how Bennings picks and players brought in through trade will grow together very soon and hopefully become a force to be reckoned with.
granpappy
next years lottery draft will be a lot more anxiety provoking with a clear class of so called generational players available for what should be the worst teams in the league as a means of maintaining equilibrium in the league. but, alas, bettman in all his wisdom and paranoia of tankers has invoked a knee jerk reaction meaning there is a very good chance now, that the worst teams (see vancouver 2016 draft) do not always get to draft the top prospects. hopefully one of the well paid execs get onto this because the system is broke and does need fixing. anyway, at least for this year, a lottery win may not be such a big deal what with patrick's injury worries and all. in fact jb might sweat a little less if he falls a bit. there is reason to believe his 1st pick may not be at the top of popular player rankings. having said that, patrick this year and a trade to pick foote and one of Dahlin or Svechnikov next year would have us resembling an nhl franchise again. unfortunately it all comes down to the luck of the draw (bettman's law)
Sugar baby watermelon
Just out of curiosity what happens if say we land the 5th pick and top 4 centres are gone, has anyone seen highlights of Owen Tippett? This kids shot is insane, some are comparing him to Phil Kessel. Do we pass up on what might be a sure fire RW sniper with size in the NHL and trade one of our other RW prospects for a young experienced Centre? Windsor has a roster stacked with experienced centers, they have 3x 20 year old players and last years 11th overall pick in brown, In order to get him the minutes on the top units, he's switched back and forth between center and wing. Very similar to how the oilers use Draisaitl who's a natural center but has played the majority of the year on the wing next to McDavid. This year he's been on an off on between center and wing when Brown has been in the line up. Last season as a 16 year old he was 3rd on his team for draws taking 573 of them (9.2 per game). Quote "He's so well-rounded and smart," Thompson said. "He's extremely coachable; you can make adjustments in-game and change systems and he can adapt to those things because his hockey sense on the ice is very apparent." Vilardi is a natural center but has alternated between center and left wing this season because of injuries throughout the Windsor lineup. I don't understand where you are getting the biega comparison because it's way off. If you want the reason why canucks will draft this kid. "Vilardi's parents are first generation Italian" and we know how much the aquilini's love their Italians.

Don't think he's on their radar, at least not in the top-5. Already have enough shooters on the wings. They want a play-making centre or true PPQB. On that note, who out there would fit that bill, who has a young future 1C that another team would give up for a stud like Tippett?

His older brother Francesco played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, and now plays for the Queen's University Gaels hockey team. Not only is he Italian but his brother's name is Francesco. His parents are probably having tiramisu and an espresso with Aquilini as we speak. With Sbisa most likely heading to Vegas we will need a token Italian on the team again. Vilardi to Vancouver is pretty much a formality at this point really... Edited April 24, 2017 by Harvey Spector

IMO, Tippett is the 4th best player in this draft, behind Patrick, Hischier, and Vilardi. Wouldn't mind drafting him and trading one of Virtanen/Goldobin for a centermen. Not even top 15 for me. He's fast and has a great shot but is one-dimensional and a perimeter player. Not the type of player this team needs.
