AFAIK CBJ have until tomorrow night to decide on what they'll do with their 2nd. Any reason they'd hold onto it that anyone can see?

Basically saying in a normal off season, Columbus would most likely send the pick our way. However, since the expansion is this season, draft picks become valuable trading pieces (to Vegas) to not select certain exposed players ect.

Personally, I think they'll still give us the pick.

Really been looking at Casey Mittlestadt closer and the more I do the more I am liking him.

Really think him and boeser could form a powerful duo in a few years

If Vilardi and Heiskanen are gone,  I think he would be my next choice over Glass.

So I haven't seen or heard as much of Necas as I've seen on most of the other players projected to go around where we're picking?

Can somebody break it down and give me the skinny on him and why he seems like a likely JB pick?

Playmaking centre, with good lateral mobility and vision, below average shot for the top of the draft, but could be the best skater after Hischier. Responsible, and has good character from most reports.

Woke up this morning thinking we drafted Necas. Maybe it was a dream I had, which I don't remember. Necas was right near the top of the rankings a few months ago, but dropped off a few spots. I know Button has him ranked high.

Necas, a responsible two way C, who has a good defensive game. Skilled, excellent skater, fast, smart, poised. His only real knock is his size, he'll need to bulk up, but he's only 18, and already playing well in the Czech league (against men). This guy could be the dark horse coming out of this draft. But about his size, the league seems to be moving more towards speed and skill, so he could be a good pick.

Apparently he's hard to knock off the puck.  But who knows, totally wouldn't mind him.

For the Canucks (IMO):

1-Mittelstadt

2-Glass

3/4-Liljegrin/Necas (in a tie IMO)

Think Claude Giroux.

One of the best skaters in the draft, constant motor, good battle and 2 way game, excellent play maker/smart, played against men as 17/18 year old, AHL eligible.

His biggest knocks would be that he's presently not 'yuge' (though he'll likely be roughly 'Sedin-sized' when mature) and that his shot could use work.

....Nico with a meeting?  ....JB must be trying to move up otherwise why bother?

Well yes it's been reported they've been making calls to move up, it's also just due diligence.

Confirmed today we are getting the Torts pick this year:

Definitely some good players available in that range. Gonna be a fun pick to watch (#55). Kinda hoping we take a swing at a high upside kid with a little risk/uncertainty attached. Look at it as a lottery ticket.

Now that we have that 2nd round CBJ pick, alot of choices to choose from.  the folks over at Canucks Army have a good draft profile today of Ivan Lodnia.  Great 5 on 5 point producer and fairly comparable to Nick Suzuki, Jonah Gadjovich and Robert Thomas in 5vs5 points.  He also just missed the 2018 draft by days so will have a year extra to grow heightwise, (possibly), and skill-wise.  His numbers don't pop off at you stat-wise because he was used 4th line and was brought in mid-season via trade but he still produced at a PPG clip, he was on a deep Erie squad.  Another might be his size as he is only 5'10'', but remember he is young and has room to grow another inch or so.

Is it worth it to flip this pick and our #5 pick for a top 2 pick?

....seems a bit much to me...a mid level (for us) prospect like Labate or Subban plus the #5 would make more sense to me...

You wouldn't trade virtanen and brisbois for reinhart?
