Relax man. Twas joke. Would you  be happier if I said I'd bet 200$ glass goes top 10?

I was a little tired & salty yesterday due to my 2 fighting babies so i was a little on the defensive side....  if you bet $200 then you would win lol

Yeah, Liljegren is ranked very low according to McKeen's list. I can only assume they ranked him so low because he was out for a lot of last year (mono). Still, other lists have him ranked in the top 10, which is where he should be. He'll have a big bounce back season next year, and whoever takes him late, will be lucky. I'm honestly not sure who I want with the #5, it seems to change daily. Vilardi's always been at the top of my list (excl Hischier and Patrick, as we won't get one of those guys), but I'm intrigued with Mittelstadt and Necas. But I also think Tippett may be a solid pick.

Just in case if there was any doubt about JB focusing on team needs in this upcoming draft.

We feel like at five there’s enough good players in this draft that we’re going to fill that need. To get a center-ice-man, a playmaker that can run a powerplay at some point and score points I think is what we need going forward. We feel we can fill that need.

Luckily the top 5 best rated players all fit the team needs.

Expect for Tippet and Heiskanen.

Tippet isnt team need I agree - even though he could be the BPA at 5.

But how is Heiskanen not team need? He could arguably be BPA at 5 if he even makes it to 5.

Can't say I've ever seen Tippet in the top 5, but he does seem to be close.  I don't know if he would be the sure fire BPA over the Cs though. I think JB would consider Heiskanen very similar to Juolevi.

I guess tippet and heiskanen aren't considered BPA. Well according the credible info JR has. Ha

According to my opinion, Tippet's closer to 10-12 than 5. Heiskanen's more in the ball park but (barring combine results) I think I have him 8'ish.

Again, 3 through 10-12 are all pretty damn flat for 'BPA-ness'. Individual traits like skating, IQ, character etc and how individual teams weigh those are going to determine which order they go more than any 'consensus' ranking (of which there is none this year).

Bunch of rankings I have seen have Tippet/Heiskanen/Vilardi in the top 4

He's consistently ranked in the top 10 and actually placed in the top 5 quite a bite too.

Even Bobby mac who makes his list based off interview NHL teams head scouts has him at 6th.

If we are really going off scouting reports he's more often ranked higher than someone like Glass.

I have always been strong on my stance that Tippet is being under sold on CDC. Its a fair assessment, since he is not in our current organizational needs. I disagree with the notion that you must pick BPA. You pick the player that long term will advance the organization. If that player is not in the future plans and will be traded for what we need, great, so be it. But if several players are all arguably even, you obviously pick the player that fills holes in our prospect lineup. Particularly in a draft such as this. Teams are built through the draft, so obviously you pick pieces that you need to build your team.

In my opinion this is where the top of the draft lines up. This is not who will be selected where, this is in my opinion the BPA order for the top of the draft.

1. Patrick

2. Hischier

3. Vilardi

4. Heiskan

5. Mittelstandt

6. Tippett

7. Glass

8. Maker

9. Necas

10. Lijegren

And for the record I do think we take Casey. The combine results may change my mind though.

I think we get Mittelstadt too, and I would be happy about that. I would be confused if JB took Heiskanen, as he's a similar player to Juolevi (defensive LHD who skates very well, poised, etc.). To me, that seems like a wasted opportunity to draft a player the Canucks could use. They need a #2C. You could even argue that they already have a puck moving RHD (Stecher, Subban), but are they good enough to score 10+ goals? Not sure, Hutton was our leading scorer on D last year with 5 goals. Stecher led the right side with 3 goals. Not good enough. The only way Tippett works IMO is if we trade Virtanen or Goldobin at some point. They aren't developing to be 4th liners, and Boeser has the #1RW locked up, I believe.  If going by drafting the BPA for team needs:

My Top 5 for the Canucks:

1. Hischier

2. Patrick

3. Vilardi

4. Mittelstadt

5. Makar

Dahlen - Mittelstadt - Goldobin (a lot of skill here)
