I wonder if Middlestadt's lack of upper body strength makes him even more attractive?  He likely had to be super skillful to make up for this.  Maybe he's maturing later than his peers too.  This kid could really blossom!  I want him more now.  Get him JB!!!

Definitely the most positive way to look at this.

If Patrick falls to 3rd I would pay Tanev to Dallas for the pick and take Patrick and whichever of Vilardi Mittelstadt is still on the table load up on Cs this draft and go for a D next year

Patrick drops that far vilardi is gone imo

If faced with that scenario take Patrick at 3 and if Vilardi isn't there, take Heiskanen or Makar at 5 over Middelstadt.

I'm not sure Patrick will fall to #3. I think he's the best player in this draft, maybe his ranking took a knock because he was injured for half of last season. I'd love to add Patrick to the team, would give instant hope that the rebuild is quickly coming together. Vilardi is next on my wish list, although I don't see him falling either (to #5), especially after the Mem. Cup. It'll still be nice to get Glass, Makar, Necas or Pettersson, but those forwards aren't #1C players IMO (Makar will be a #1RHD). But really, I can't see any other #1C for this team than Horvat. He's the future leader / captain. This will soon be his team. He's already the best player and only 22.

Actually it isn't.  He's 30 in 2 months, Fucale isn't doing terrible at all.  The best time for MTL to move him is within the next 2 years.

If they can net a return of a Patrick/Hischier and a star/stud prospect for him, say Ghostisbehere, Prorov or whatever and Philly FINALLY closes that issue they've had in net since Hextall left (ya it's been that long) I think both teams seriously consider it

Fucale sucks..

Someone sell me on Tippett.  How he isn't Virtanen 2.0

Tell me how he's better than Tolvanen or Vesalainen using more than just points as your reasoning

Well for one; Tippett is a better skater than Virtanen and has a better shot.

Tippett is also a skillful power forward ala Rick Nash or Bobby Ryan as oppose to Virtanen, who uses his fitness to score most of his goals.

Tippett has arguably the best wrist shot and scoring touch in this draft class, whereas Virtanen was in the top 5-7, in his.

Short-sighted? It is a lot easier to argue that Fucale won't ever be as good as Price than it is to argue otherwise.

Nope not at all whatsoever.

Goalies as good as Price are not a dime a dozen. Goalies like Price are few and far between. When you combine base statistics and underlying numbers the only other goalie who comes even close to Price is Holtby who plays on a better team albeit is still a good goalie.

MAF is a good goalie that so happens to play on the leagues best team. Still doesn't compare to Price. Pens and Caps would probably make the playoffs without their top goalies meanwhile the Canadiens will and have $&!# the bed if Price is out for any period of time.

If he can't get a Matthews level player than he shouldn't be traded.

You didn't fix anything. Price>Luongo Price>Schneider. Price is more valuable to the Habs than Luongo and Schneider ever were for the Canucks and the way the Canucks handled their goaltending situation with Luo and Schneider was complete crap. Also you should still smack yourself in the face, twice for good measure.

To put it plainly the Habs are an average team and Price brings them up a couple levels. If Price was on a team like CHI or PIT then he would bring those teams up a couple levels despite them already being legit threats for the SC.

Have to agree to disagree man.

I can see them shopping him in 2 seasons or so

Virtanen had the best skating and best shot in his draft class as per numerous experts.

That's almost impressive but we already have a Virtanen and if Benning chooses another one people will lynch him

But if JB feels Tippett is the BPA at #5, then what does he do? I agree we already have Virtanen, who seems to be a similar power forward type player. If he does draft Tippett, then I'll wonder if he's going to trade (Virtanen?) Maybe he won't but it could happen.

Well.....first off......most of the entire NHL scouting fraternity seems to think he is

Personally, I seen him at the U17's where he was a dominant player every game....scoring 3 or 4 goals in the gold metal game

In the OHL he has continued at relatively the same pace....very consistent

I am not saying you are wrong WH, but what makes you think they are as good as Tippett?

He is in no way the same as Virtanen.......who was seen as a late 1st round pick by some teams.....which have been proven correct up until this point
