And the Canucks do nothing...Benning will pick 5 players and leave...after the season we had, that's unacceptable.

With his track record 3 or 4 of those will play in the NHL. What more do you want? I seriously feel like people get a Boner for complaining all the time.

No doubt!

He should have traded our 2nd for a big young top 4 dman!  Oh wait!

Let's try this again.

He should have traded one of our top prospects for a 2nd round pick that will take longer to develop like the lightning did! There we go... makes lots of sense on our part. :P

Jim needs to freaking wake the hell up. We got guys that should be moved- Higgins, Burrows, Hansen and Edler. Do something work something out be a freaking manager, not the right guy- he may key word may be a good scout but Jim's manager skills remind of Dave Nonis sitting there doing absolutely nothing.

Please sign Tallon, Jim can stay as a assistant and fire Wiesbrod.

Benning improved our defense by miles with the Guddy trade and the Juolevi pick. Our defensive depth and potential just went through the roof in the span of a month. Not to mention he's very highly likely to sign 1 or even 2 of the best free agent forwards in this class. Can you really castrate the guy for not trading some of our best players, for draft picks outside of the first round who statistically will have a fairly small percentage chance of ever playing in the NHL? As great of a scout as he is, statistics are statistics, and most of the guys between rounds 2-7 will never play an NHL game, and frankly we don't have the assets to get 7 first round picks like every fan wants.

Jim made his big move before the draft trading a pick and prospect for a massive RHD... Did you forget that?  It makes the day a little less exciting, but he has hardly done nothing this off season.

That moment when you meet the GM of your team and you think it's some random kid at the draft.

No doubt. Was the first time I saw that kid. I heard he was 27 but the kid looks 21.

He should have traded Vrbata, last Year, for a 2016 second. Instead we got ______

Not sure why people are whining so much

We have 5 picks, we have 5 chances at players that turn out.  So we're not in the mix for trades....big deal

But then we'd have given away da 2nd round pixzorz

Just wait until next years draft ok.  When we have one of the top 3 picks because Henrik gets injured mid October for 3 months and Tanev/Hutton both go down with long term injuries and Miller falls apart leaving Marky to get burned out by the ASG

why would the Canucks want to trade now, yesterday maybe, but the returns on Hansen , Burrows, Higgins and (if you want to move him,) Edler then the deadline this year is the time to pull the trigger.

Not  sure why everyone wants trades to be made, that was done already before the draft and the Canucks got a lot better because of it

Someone enlighten me, is DeAngelo a head case?

His numbers seem pretty good, why would Tampa give up on him?

Healthy scratched 8 times last year and it sounds like he might have been the one who asked for a trade.

Spoiler

When the Lightning Anthony DeAngelo 19th overall in 2014, it showed a lot of faith and confidence in the touted defenseman despite supposed character concerns.

Tampa Bay loved DeAngelo's puck-moving abilities and offensive skill, the kind of player that can impact a power play.

But just two years later, DeAngelo is gone, the Lightning trading him to Arizona Saturday for the 37th overall pick, which they used to pick defenseman Libor Hajek. DeAngelo was coming off a tough first pro season with AHL Syracuse, a minus-18 while getting healthy scratched eight times. DeAngelo tweeted he was excited to be with the Coyotes, thanking Tampa Bay.

It sounds like it might have been a mutual parting, or even initiated by DeAngelo himself.

"I wish things could have been different but I think this is better for all involved," said DeAngelo's father, Lou. "We are thankful for the opportunity... We were looking for an opportunity to play in the NHL sooner rather than later."

Former Syracuse coach Rob Zettler said at the end of the season DeAngelo's struggles were mostly in the defensive zone, as he's obviously a gifted offensive player. [...]

Yes, but that won't stop people here complaining about not getting him.

JB is building a culture of quality character here and guys like this DO NOT fit in that mold.
