TSN's assessment. Agree or Disagree?

A screen shot from a TSN article today. Basically saying management's out to lunch. Personally I think TSN's full of crap here. We're addressing organizational needs, but OMG WE'RE NOT BLOWING UP THE TEAM! Seriously though, I think Eriksson and Gubranson were both much needed pieces to the puzzle. I'm just curious, do you guys agree with TSN or not? Pretty much they're saying go full on rebuild. I just want others opinions cause this article really annoyed me.

I agree that GM's are stupid for throwing so much term at aging players, but I don't agree with their assessment of Vancouver at all.

Ya we totally won't improve now with Boeser Demko Horvat Virtanen Baertschi Etem Hutton Markstrom Trymkin Larsen Stecher Pedan Joulevi Lockwood Brisebois other prospects. Were only getting better now. Horvat will be around 50-60 points. Virtanen around 15-25 Baertschi could get 20 goals etem could get around 15. Hutton can get a lot of assists. Markstrom can prove he can be a starter. Tryamkin can prove he can handle nhlers and play solid. Idk what they're thinking?

If we blow up the team and end up with a top 5 draft pick we'd be drafting a guy who we hope can score 60-70 points in the NHL. Eriksson has three 70+ point season and two 60+ point seasons already. He scored 30+ goals last season while playing a strong two way game. I'd say that he's one of the more underrated players in the NHL so I have no problem with the signing.

As others have mentioned, Gudbranson is also going to be a huge piece for us going forward. Edmonton gave up Hall for Larsson while we give up McCann and a 2nd. That's a steal of a deal for us if you ask me.

People need to realize that there is more than one way to build a team and compared to where we were 2 years ago we are in a much better place.

Can't wait for Blunt's weigh-in on this one.  I know how much of a fan he is of TSN, lol.

It's all crap... I'm liking Benning and the guts he's showing to continue to move forward.  Can I agree with all that he's done?  Maybe/ maybe not... Some moves are too early to tell just yet.  But he has shown he isn't afraid to keep on keepin' on...

This kind of false shock and eastern based disdain is, sadly, totally expected so it does not bother me anymore. Had there been universal praise of today's moves, however, I'd really be worried.

So according to the TSN clowns Canucks should just roll over and accept basement dwelling until .... until what?

You could have top players in their 30s and still be a competitive team while cycling in younger players.  Look at how SJ went from missing the playoffs a few years ago to cycling in younger guys while keeping their older guys around.

But who is the TSN quote from? Oneill?  The raccoon in my back alley is smarter than that guy.

lol not surprised.  They are always wrong about Vancouver, I do agree at some point we should rebuild, but not a scorch earth. NO teams do that, anymore.  for Vancouver to let go of Bieska, Hamhius, and Higgins in the past 2 seasons and to phase in Virtanen Horvat, Tryamkin is sign we are retooling on the fly.  it's not like we also didn't miss the playoffs and ended up with a 14th pick. We still finished bottom 3rd, and ended up with a 5th pick, which is still a valid rebuilding block at this point.

I was driving for a bit awhile back, and damn near drove off the road listening to Sekeres, Price and the MOJ! Ripping the Canucks on term/NMC for the Eriksson deal, but not one comment on the Oiler Lucic deal. I'll take a 36 year old Eriksson before I take a 35 year old Lucic anytime.
