drsofthands
There seems to be an aura of positivity running through these boards. The majority of fans have high hopes for a bright Canucks future. Hate to bring up bad memories, but we weren't just bad last season, we were the worst. The worst team in the league, maybe. The third lowest ppg, and the worst goal differential: -52. And people really think we have a chance this year? I'm sure we'll be better, but that much better? Seems unlikely. If there is one thing I don' want, is for the Canucks going back to their ways of first round blowouts. Most experts are on the same side looking down on this team. We got Loui Eriksson and that was really our only major addition. Most of our players will be hopefully improving, but our two best are on the decline. Sure we had injuries last year and we will have them again this year. This team will never be a contender without a #1 defensemen and a great first line. Free agency and trades will never fill those voids for us. All I can say is, don't get your hopes up, and I'll be waiting in the tank for when all to join when mid-season comes around. mpt
We are better, but we are still going to be a low scoring team. Hopefully our solid D and goaltending will stay high so we can win a tonne of 1 goal games and OTs
Gaudette Celly
Signed perhaps the top UFA, acquired top-4 physical DMan, MVP of the SEL coming in, healthy Sutter, Tryamkin and Larsen coming in, and... oh nm

Sedin too! +1 years for Horvat // Baertschi // Etem // Virtanen Also there's still quite a long time till the season, trades are possible too. This team's not a contender but I don't think it's as bad as people think it is.
Crabcakes
Long term injuries to key people and an incomplete top 4 D had something to do with having a poor year. D is now more complete, deeper, younger, faster Forwards will be incrementally better, younger Injuries, well that's just bad luck and that goes in cycles
73 Percent
I've never seen people so depressed after signing the highest scoring player available today... Young guns progress this year will determine how we do

Yes, we are better prepared for this season than last. As we will be for next season compared to this one. It's called developing. If you don't think the Sedins and Eriksson are a good first line than you know nothing about hockey.
aliboy
They just said on the news that they still want to bring in a gritty forward via a trade, so perhaps Hartnell. Add him to what's been done and it ain't bad.

bobopan
To me we are heading towards the worst possible outcome I could think of ..being that bubble team year after year. Not good enought to compete for the cup but not bad enough to have a shot at those franchise level players. Hey if your happy with this mantra of making the playoffs at all costs then fine but for me my level of interest in this team is nowhere where it once was. Even with Ericksson this still aint a playoff team and injuries as i see being mentioned here will come again as they always do. We simply don't have the depth. Bobby_Lu1ngo
Lucic said in his interview that the reason he chose Edmonton is quite simply to play with Mcdavid.... we debated tanking all year mainly on what kind of player you hope to get and how it impacts your future. It wasnt mentioned often about how impactful those players are to free agents. Tanking over the past 3 years alone has lead to oilers to get Draisatl, Mcdavid, Puljijarvi, (Benson), and now Lucic. Essentially 3 seasons was enough to secure the better part of a top six. Thats apart from nuge yak eberle and nurse. Canucks on the other hand missed the playoffs 2 of those same 3 seasons. With a first round exit the other. Here we sit with some decent prospects but none that we can build our offense from. Yet we still have enough veterans that we will likely be bordering on a playoff spot in the 10 to 20 range of the league. Are we good enough to win a divisional seed? LA, SJ, Ana, Edm, Cgy all look stronger than us still. Dallas, Chicago, Nashville all look like contenders. Winnipeg St. Louis look like wild card candidates minnesota colorado vancouver and phoenix still look like a step behind the pack. Management eluded to a rebuild last season and finally started taking steps on that direction. Now they sign a top free agent who is outside the age category of our core but locked up 6 years? I like Eriksson alot but whats the logic?

I think you should ask the Canucks to allow you into the dressing room and give the players this motivational speech, advising them to purposely tank so they can all lose their jobs for the greater good of the organization, allowing us to collect more top 3 picks. Report back on your progress and their reactions...
