stonecoldstevebernier
Quote Blues Add Depth, Agree to Terms with 9 Players Chris Butler, Conner Bleackley, Jacob Doty among team's depth signings on Saturday Saturday, 07.2.2016 / 10:00 AM CT / St Louis Blues - News By Chris Pinkert - St. Louis Blues ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Blues added some organizational depth Saturday, agreeing to contract terms with nine players on the second day of free agency. Below is a list of the signings: Chris Butler (one year, two-way deal) Conner Bleackely (three-year entry-level deal) Jacob Doty (one year, two-way deal) Brad Hunt (one-year, two-way deal) Andrew Agozzino (one-year, two-way deal) Wade Megan (one-year, two-way deal) Morgan Ellis (one-year, two-way deal) Alex Friesen (one-year, two-way deal) Kenny Agostino (one-year, two-way deal) (http://blues.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=888398) In the vein of Joe Cannata, another depth guy looking for opportunities elsewhere. Would've liked to see Friesen back with the Comets as he's been a consistent 3C (forced into a 2C role most nights) and he could help hold the bottom six together this season, with all the fringe prospects that are gonna be in the lineup. At least he got his one NHL game in last season.

Michael Chaput looks like a free upgrade anyway (who was also not traded for a low pick). Probably was more valuable at the time to have Friesen for a Utica playoff run..as they seemed poised to do well (but of course didn't).

CDC taking things too seriously? I never thought that I'd see the day.
Ossi Vaananen
Would have liked to be in on Bleakley. I guess Friesen wanted some familiarity with the Wolves.
elvis15
A player I liked but was always going to have trouble cracking the NHL lineup. If he feels he can get a better opportunity at that elsewhere, you can't worry about letting him go.

Bleakley went back in the draft and was picked by the Blues in the 5th round. Wasn't a UFA pick up.

Blues picked him in the 5th Rd I think this year. Rumour has it, Benning liked him a lot and would have drafted him if he was there when the Canucks picked
