[Speculation] Canucks looking to move Sbisa

Recommended Posts

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: The Canucks have been trying to add another impact forward.

“If I had a crystal ball, I would say we’d try to add a winger who had some grit and size to him, who can score,” Benning said.

When free agency started, the Canucks were trying to move a bad contract and an asset to gain some extra cap space.

There were some rumors that the Canucks were talking about a Luca Sbisa trade over the weekend. Such a move would make sense for the third pairing defenseman who has a $3.6 million cap hit.

looks like Lucas may be on the move

Speculation.  I personally want to see Gudbranson, Sbsia AND Tryamkin all the ice next season.  Larsen is ? and the depth ends with Biega.  So I think you keep him, unless you can find that gritty forward JB is looking for.  I guess that's a swap that would make sense for teams.

I'd almost rather they kept Luca and dealt Pedan, but one is likely on the move.

Luca's skating is stronger, and he's improved dramatically since he arrived.  Isn't quite as intimidating, but arguably a better hitter and is further along in his development.

Pedan will be waiver eligible - so won't be surprised if one is dealt, but at this point, imo Luca makes the third pairing more solid that Pedan.

On the other hand, Pedan is a more viable 7th man, they flirted with winging him, and Luca is more likely to push Tryamkin or Larsen to the 7 spot than Pedan is.

Will be interesting - I like them both but won't be surprised if one of them is dealt.

Luca imo has a solid NHL career ahead of him.  Pedan's might depend on his improving his lateral movement.
