Why would the Canucks want Hudler? He's small, a C and 32.

He's actually a winger and he'd actually bring us scoring depth. However, I don't think we should get him.

yeah, he may have made sense if a guy like Brouwer were their primary signing, but not many people seem to have paid attention to what Benning has actually been saying.

he's not looking for a defenseman, and he's not necessarily looking for small forwards

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to Hudler (at a short term and reasonable cap hit), but I highly doubt the likes of Gagner, Hudler, Pirri are anywhere near the top of Benning's radar.

Sign him to a one year deal and if we're not in the playoff contention then trade him for a draft pick.

Are you serious?... literally a 0 percent chance that happens. Why would he sign a 1 year deal with us in the first place? That's a terrible contract for him. No chance that happens. No chance at all. If, and thats a big if, he signs a one year deal, it will be with a true contender.

I think you might be joking. I hope you are. We need to be realistic. real life isn't a video game. You have to offer a contract that works for both sides, and that he prefers over all the others. You can't straight fleece everyone and only have things go perfectly the way you want. It's a two way street.

Hopefully, we don't get any of those you mentioned. Pirri, Gagner, Knight, etc, all the rumored players. Because 1 they are all centers, 2 they don't really fit the criteria Benning is searching for, and 3 it would create an unnecessary logjam for our own young, depth players like Granlund, Etem, Grenier, Gaunce, who are all waiver eligible (except Gaunce). We need to get some of these guys on the roster.

they've been 'rumoured' by 1130 for a week, so....

1130 looks like they're competing with the Botched types, the Drances, the Crypt-keepers, the Prattle-jockeys to make a name for themselves as leading dimwits in the media marketplace.

The lesser the credibility, the dumber the proclamations, the better.
