[rumour] Benning targeting Landeskog, JVR, Kane

Recommended Posts

Pls god not jvr. I like him as a player but i have a feeling lamorello would school Benning in a trade.  That and I wouldnt be able to stang the tools at tsn analyzing whatever the trade may be. Even if we tradeda conditional 4th for jvr they'd twist it somehow that the leafs won.

Shouldn't it be Murray who is working the phone hard to dump Kane on Benning?

JVR would be a good addition at 4M$ for two more years, though always depend on the price.  I think he could be had at a reasonable price.

Landeskog' would also be a good addition, but I feel his price tag will be too high.

This guy's as reliable as Eklund. He's throwing pasta at a wall to see what sticks.

His rumor yesterday was JVR plus to the Av's for Barrie.

That and he must know how to read yesterday's Sportsnet posting.

Canucks trying to trade for another impact winger

It's no secret Vancouver is trying to get back in the playoffs, and the upgrade from Radim Vrbata to Loui Eriksson is a step in that direction.

Still, GM Jim Benning isn't done trying to improve his club's offence.

According to The Province, Benning has "quietly" been trying to add another impact player. (Aside: Quietly is probably the best approach for Benning at this point.)

“If I had a crystal ball, I would say we’d try to add a winger who had some grit and size to him, who can score,” Benning said.

Reporter Jason Botchford threw out a couple big names who might be available in trade.

"It’s believed the Canucks were looking to move a player on an unappealing contract along with a valuable asset in an attempt to clear more cap space to chase a forward," Botchford writes.

"Could it be Evander Kane or the apparently available Gabriel Landeskog? That’s anyone’s guess.

Some around the league suggested a possible Luca Sbisa trade was being discussed this weekend."

The Avalanche's Patrick Roy called out his core at the end of the season but did defend captain Landeskog.

It was rumoured Friday that the Buffalo Sabres were open to dealing Kane, a Vancouver native who is under police investigation.

Buffalo GM Tim Murray's patience is growing thin with Kane. He told The Associated Press on Friday that Kane needs to behave better whether or not he’s cleared of harassment complaints.

Those are some big names/contracts being thrown around.

It worries me about the assets being requested in return?

Really,  really hope the likes of Demko/Boeser aren't being discussed and if they are,  JB just says thanks,  no.

Hopefully it's Edler. If we get Landeskog, I think our D core would be pretty decent with

Hutton - Tanev

Larsen/Tryamkin - Gudbranson

Sbisa - Tryamkin/Larsen

I'd be great with an Edler/Landeskog deal,  but I'm certain Burnaby Joe would be asking for +.

If that were to happen,  I wonder if the open spot on D would be Juolevi's to lose?

I'd be just fine with a Sbisa for Foligno deal also.

Nick or Marcus?

As far as Juo goes, I'm pretty sure JB said he could be in the NHL if he bulks up enough over the summer.

And with 23/92 deal, defense is at a premium right now, and it's what Colorado needs to make the playoffs, so I could totally see JB twisting Sakic's arm to get a fair deal. I mean, we did just see Hall for Larsson.

Where there is smile there is fire. I do believe Benning is after another forward.  Kane would be a steal at the right price. Off-season problems are just part of hockey. Look at Kane for instance. Anyhoo, Benning will do something.

Only problem is that many of Kane's problems are DURING the season.

Kane the player, yes.  Kane the person, no thanks.

I would be ecstatic if benning pulled a trade off that would bring any one of those guys in but think realistically guys, what do we really have to offer that is EXPENDABLE on the team for those guys? Again i'd be so happy if this happens but don't get your hopes high cause the disappointment will only be worse

Funny how alot of CDCers would want a spoiled, cocky, whiny player who has had brushes with the law over a big, rugged, ball-sack spearing, Stanley Cup winning East van boy.

That would be Marcus,  as I think he's got a lot of upside.

On the other trade,  I just don't see us taking their young,  rugged,  heart and soul captain from them for an older, often injured defenseman looking like he may be on the decline(everyone relax,  I said may)?   Surely Joe doesn't make that move without asking for +.

When you are thinking about guys who are expendable, it all depends on who you're trading for. If you are going for a guy like a Gabe Landeskog, someone like Virtanen can be added to the discussion. Or Tyson Barrie, you can definitely talk about Tanev. Etc etc. Especially if you think it makes your team better. Is Virtanen gonna be better than Landeskog...time will tell, but they are a similar kind of player. Again...all this only comes up because of Colorado's internal cap. I'm sure they don't WANT to trade their captain or their best defenseman.
