CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed forward Linden Vey to a one-year, two-way contract.

No.  Just Shink for Granlund.  Vey is a UFA and could sign anywhere.

yes but if we didn't have Granlund and still had Shink we would have had room to sign Vey who was an RFA. It's not like Granlund >>>>>>> Vey. At least not enough to justify giving up Shink for. But that's just my opinion.

I'd be fine with signing Lessio or Chipchura to take his spot - fit our needs better imo.

I wish him the best.  I thought he might go to Europe to get a bit of distance and air, but nice to see Calgary give him another opportunity.  He's certainly earned one with his hard work and improvement despite the hardships.   Obviously a character young player.

So essentially Vey and Shink for Granlund? I like a lot of things JB has done, this is not one of them.

Essentially not

A roster spot is a roster spot and comes with its own value

If Vey had any value whatsoever he wouldn't have been on the market for a few days, only to sign a 1 year deal likely at league minimum

Fair enough.  At this point, none of them have proven to be anything of real value at the NHL level.  I'm not upset about losing Vey, or trading Shinkaruk, but that's just my opinion.

Isn't Granlund the guy to take his spot?

I'm ok with Vey'sy moving on to calgary.  If hes in there lineup it will only make it easier for us to play them.  He is a slight fella. Sure he has some xp but downgrading some of calgary's size is fine by me.
