TheRussianRocket.
...thank god! Was that ever a well deserved break for the Canucks. Long overdue with how many times this team gets burned. Get to keep Green for another season. Great for the Comets and prospect development. Not to mention, gives Vancouver a succession plan if this ends up being Willie's last season. The way he coaches and his inability to do certain things in game, such as adjusting lines etc etc etc, will lead to his fall imo since he hasn't learned from years past. Nothing against Willie, just that Green is more important me thinks with the youth movement and he has more potential to do bigger and better things if given the chance. Qwags
This almost guarantees that Travis Green will be our next coach.
Cramarossa
So Green is basically settling to to stick around in Utica, as he thinks it'll help him be more competitive for a NHL head coaching position next year? Utica is just a stop gap, but he wants to move on? Am I reading/interpreting this right? Instead of feeling better I feel worse lol. It's not news he's looking to move up, but still. He's a valuable asset. I don't get the impression he think being head coach of the Canucks is next, so much as just head coaching in the NHL in general. Jägermeister
I'd be shocked/disappointed if this didn't lead up to Green replacing Willie as our coach either this season or after Willies contract is up.

Same here. It would make sense to bring him up as the coach of the Canucks in a couple of years, if he is fine with that. He is familiar with all the young guys and it will be an easy transition to the big club without having to adjust to unfamiliar players and the teams' system. But I don't think he'll stay around for more than just next season. He's pushing for an NHL job pretty hard.
Fanuck
Great news for the organization. There'll be some expectations/pressure on WD this season I imagine with an improved roster and a successor in the wings.
Borvat
I think Green will be the next coach as soon as Christmas depending on the Canucks record, at the latest next year barring a banner year from the team at least partly due to coaching.

How transparent his statements are and 2. How excited CDCers seem at what essentially is his goodbye statement. I expected him to be looking elsewhere, but his statements come across to me as almost a slap in the face. And while it's great he's sticking around for a year, I'm not sold that Willie's on his way out and Green's on his way in. Time will tell.
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
No surprises here but still very nice to finally get official confirmation that Green will be back in Utica for another season. Looking forward to seeing where he can take the Comets in 2016-17, and how much our prospects develop under his tutelage. Also interesting to read between the lines of his comments regarding NHL assistant coach positions (see last two tweets in OP). Almost sounds like he'd consider taking an assistantship after this next season, if an NHL head coaching gig doesn't present itself. In the past, Green has always be pretty clear about wanting to be a head coach (AHL or NHL). But he now sounds a bit more open to working and learning under another NHL coach, at least one where there might be potential for advancement (ie: a "head coach in waiting" or "associate coach" type of position). Maybe wishful thinking but it just seems like a shift in tone from his previous answers whenever he's been asked about NHL assistant coaching opportunities. mpt
If Eriksson is on pace for 40 goals with the Sedins and WD takes him off that line like Vrbata, he needs to be fired and replaced with Green. I hope he has learned his lesson

I think he has summized that he won't get a head coaching job right off the hop; has to put in assistantship time. I wouldn't be surprised if the Canucks offered him the Doug Jarvis position earlier in the year, but he turned it down (as he wanted to find a head coaching position). He will definately 'fly the coop' after this season. With the 2 Dougs looking secure assisting WD, I doubt we will see him with the Canucks. PhillipBlunt
He could always replace Perry Pearn, who should really be leading corporate retreats at Gibsons, what with his team building exercises. Oh and Perry Pearn is a useless powerplay coach. Obviously.
