[Disussion] Linden Happy With Team, What Does He Mean?

Recommended Posts

Just listening to him on the radio and he is saying that while still needing top six scoring, he is happy with the team.

Is that just bowing smoke again, is it because he can't tell the truth, is it just misleading because he likes the players or is it something else?

I can understand a comment like that but I would think an add on like, at this stage or at this time would be in there.

I generally like the team, I like it a whole lot more when they are good or improving though or look like they are.

OJ saying he will go to Europe to play if he isn't in the NHL, hmmmm, couldn't hurt I guess, but does he sign here first? Can he go if he signs?

Oddly Linden didn't know anything about this but he didn't deny it could happen evidently because no one has talked to OJ or his agent about signing since the draft.

Then again I guess he isn't going to say he isn't satisfied yet, even if he isn't.

I wonder if he went to talk to OJ or his agent after the interview.

It means exactly what it says.

He's content with the roster and if the season ended up starting today, this is a lineup he would be glad to begin with. Like management has said, if they can add another forward or dman before the season starts, that would be nice. If not, nothing wrong with the team they have right now as well.

...hate to be that guy but it's not rocket science

Perhaps he's satisfied that the team is better than it was last year, and significantly better if injuries aren't such a factor.  I happen to agree with him.  JB has improved the team without breaking the bank (so far - Gudbranson will need to be extended eventually).  You seem to have gotten a bit off track on your own post - what OJ does next year if he doesn't make the NHL is a side issue pretty much unrelated to your stated topic and will only muddy the issue here.  If he makes the team, however, that's averted and the team is better for it.

Tells you something about his standards if this lineup satisfies him!

I'm sure he'd love to have added Stamkos, but you do what you can...

But yeah, nothing in this other than they've made some moves and are happy enough now without disrupting the rest of the lineup too much.

I think what Trevor Linden is really saying is that he is happy. He has a nice home, a healthy and happy family, and a decent job.

I do recollect though, now that I think about it, running into Trevor at O' Hares in Steveston. He told me that he secretly wanted to get back into playing in the NHL. So what I really think he's saying, Guardian, is that he plans on taking that role on the second line, if they can't find someone through a trade. So that's what he means.

Comprende?

What’s not to like about this line up, we have a lot of young forwards with a  lot of promise.  What would be the point of going out and paying a high price for a player when there’s a chance one of our young players can fill that spot.  Like Linden said,  we still don’t know exactly how a Rodin is going to fit it,  We don’t know what kind of strides Baertschi and Virtanen are going to make this offseason.  Right now, we like what we see with the roster heading into training camp, but if a player becomes available through trade, it’s something worth exploring.
