[Signing] Hurricanes re-sign F Victor Rask [6 years X $4M AAV]

Good signing Canes. Great second line winger on any team.

Still a big commitment for a 23 years old sophomore, 0.5PPG player.  IMO it's a gamble, hoping Rask will break out and be a bargain for 6 years or on the flip side an expensive marginal bottom 6 player if he already peaked.

barring a big breakout year for bo, this will be a contract the canucks look to as an idea for his extension.

a little bit expensive for the first year or two, market value for a year or two, bargain for a year or two, and buy up a couple years of unrestricted free agency while still allowing the player to cash in for the big contract during his prime.

That is funny.

He's turning out to be a really nice 2nd rounder pick up for them.

Cue the Jensen.......oh forget it.

There's also

Boone Jenner
John Gibson
Brandon Saad
Rickard Rakell

Nikita Kucherov

Hey at least Vancouver has Markus Granlund :P

The fact that the Canucks took Jensen before all these players makes me sad.

I think the Canes are taking a big gamble with this one.

I wouldn't call it a big gamble, but it is definitely a gamble.

However it is a gamble for both sides.   Rask is losing out on a potential big pay day in a few years in exchange for job security.

Rask looked really good this year and has been improving every year he's been in NA.  The odds that he noticeably regresses are no higher than the odds that he develops into a 1st line player over the next 3 years.

48 points isn't bottom 6 production.

If he's peaked, it's a good deal. If he improves, it's a great deal.

Looked pretty good when I watched him!

Managed to score 50 with pivots Staal, Staal (Eric, now gone to Minny) & Lindholm around.  Lindholm played more wing when I watched.  But I wonder who will cement the 1C & 2C jobs?

If Rask keeps even 2C and keeps this performance its a bargain!

I Know, What I meant was a lot of guys produce 40-50 pts in their career and ultimately dropped down.

Its a big

commitment for for a one time 40 pts guy, if that was his career year, it's going to be a long 6 years.

i would have expected a shorter bridge deal to make sure he can be consistent before I lock him long term, but that just me and Francis seams to know What he's doing in Carolina
