Losing With Pride
Does anyone else get these? I usually get one or two every few months. So Painful. I've tried salt water. There are so many arguments in regards to causes of these: Vitamin Deficiency, Stress etc.
Monty
Got them a lot growing up. 34 now, been a few years since I last got one; and even then, they don't last long.
Duds
I get them occasionally... Maybe one or two per year. Getting that many each month seems excessive. i tried the saltwater thing before and can't handle the taste so I ditched the water and go with straight salt. Put a bit on a teaspoon and cover that nasty critter. No idea if this actual has any benefits but I like to think that if I torture the offending sore enough it will hesitate to come back. Grapefruits
Used to get them all the time when I was younger. Hardly get them now. I find now certain toothpastes will cause them and acidic fruits. This time of year cherry tomatoes are my enemy.
ShakyWalton
I used to get them..make a half and half solution of Hydrogen peroxide and water and gargle a few times a day...
CANUCK-EXPRESS
Hate 'em... Salt is the solution.
canuckster19
I used to use those Whitening toothpastes until a dentist told me they have higher concentrations of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which can cause canker sores, that and they're ineffective. So I just went back to a plain toothpaste, I still get them, but went from at least 1 a month when I was around 25 to about 1 or 2 a year I'm now 35. Floss as well, flossing helps. miked1101
I get them quite often, don't know why exactly. As far as treatment goes, I use Mouth Ulcer Gel which is a god-send. I'm using this one currently (don't remember how I got my hands on it, since it seems like a UK product): http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Mouth-Ulcer-Gel-15g_843475/

Not the STD kind, but in the same family as that. They can pop up when your immune system is compromised, like when under prolonged duress/stress ( When you get them use an oral analgesic. If you go over the counter you'll end up getting a product that most likely has benzocaine in it. Your best bet though is to go to your dentist and ask for something like Kenalog. It's a steroid paste mixed with a pain killer that will reduce the inflammation and leave a film over the sore to help protect it.

It does the film over the sore with pain killer but doesn't have the steroid for inflammation. http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/zilactin-b-mouth-sore-gel/ID=prod6084417-product

Canker sores are ulcers and can be brought on by a number of reasons such as stress, vitamin deficiency, certain foods, etc.

I used to get them when I was younger, then my mom researched and found that acidophilus will help reduce this. It can also be found in yogurt I recommend both until you get them out of control. I havnt had one in 20 years now. For immediate relief of a sore, now a warning this hurts like a SOB lol... Take some baking soda on your finger and cram it in the sore..again warning this HURTS! Lol but it also makes the sore go numb for some time taking the irritation out of it. hope all this helps, I was one of those poor kids who had times where my whole mouth was filled. Ps..
