Nice mayor: 'Tens of dead' when truck runs into crowd

(CNN)The mayor of Nice, France, tweeted that a truck ran into a crowd on Bastille Day, killing multiple people.

Mayor Christian Estrosi said late Thursday that there are "tens of dead."
 
"Dear Nice residents, the driver of a truck appears to have caused tens of deaths. Stay for the moment in your homes. More info to come."
 
 
 
CNN reporting truck occupants and police exchange gunfire.
 
Vehicle being reported as a tractor trailer which mowed people down then sped up and did it again.
 
UPDATE : 73 dead

Either it's a joke or he thinks the word "Nice" is an adjective referring to the mayor's kindness instead of the city of Nice, France.

 

I wish this kind of atrocity was surprising but sadly it isn't.

Crazy, I was just there for Euro Cup in huge crowds everyday. This was always in the back of our minds. Met many people from all over Europe who also worried about these things but it never stopped from people having a good time. 

 

This is so sad.

I was fooled too when I just saw the thread subject ... but that's why we were taught to read in elementary school.
