Guest
Welcome back to would you rather! I would just like to let everyone know that the would you rather doesn't focus on anything, except who you would rather have one your team. It doesn't matter who is already on your team or what the team needs. I would also like to clear up that it will always be the players in their primes, unless said otherwise. Justdean10
also, it's hard to tell when you compare people of different generation. Stat wise, Hull and Oates have much better numbers.. but I always wonder how well they would do now, even in their prime. Points are much harder to come by. -Vintage Canuck-
To be fair to the respective duos, it would be better to compare players from the same era. Voted for Henrik and Daniel anyways. Just imagine what their point totals would be back in the 80's.
Bissurnette
Didn't get to watch Oates and Hull play, but them Swedish twins sure are magical. (Insert inappropriate gif here) What about Henrik and Daniel, or Getzlaf and Perry? PS: I'd definitely go with the Swedes again.
Harvey Spector
Hull and Oates were magic. I watched them every week. Hull was Mike Bossy 2.0. He's a legend. No comparison at all. Daniel would have never scored 86 goals in one year, not even in the 80's. And Hull scored 37 goals as a 38 year old in the 2000's...
Diamonds
Hull is one of the greatest goal scorers of all time, and I think most people would place him in the top 3. Oates was also no slouch. The Sedins have definitely been elite players for this franchise, and I can see how the argument can be made that the Sedins are better than Oates (maybe by just a little bit), but Hull is in a league of his own in this comparison. I give the edge to Hull and Oates in this comparison, but I agree with previous posters that it is hard to compare players from different eras. Arguably one of the best passers in the game was Adam Oates and he had great chemistry with Brett Hull and Cam Neely. I didn't do Neely for fear of hate comments spamming the thread. Hull in his prime, in 2010-2011 would score 80 goals instead of 86 or whatever it was ....he was that awesome with Oates feeding him - late in his career he still scored lots of 35 goals seasons in an era where you piggybacked a defenseman while the other defenseman held both your arms behind your back on the way to the net, he essentially never stopped scoring, on of the best scorers ever. Oates was at least as good at passing the puck as Henrik is/was in his prime. Daniel would have scored 45-55 goals back in the early 90's maybe, with his brother feeding him, mostly because the goalies were smaller and not dropping to the butterfly yet. Guest
According to Derek Zona's simplistic era-adjusted scoring: http://www.coppernblue.com/2013/8/25/4656828/era-adjusted-nhl-all-time-leading-scorers-by-season Henrik and Daniel compare favorably to some of the league's all-time greats. I suspect that, had the twins played in the 80s, they'd both have been 150pt players.
