SwissCanucks
Mike Santorelli has signed with Geneva, as reported by a swiss journalist: " Patrick Andrey @andrey_patrick 46 minil y a 46 minutes 3e étranger mis sous contrat par le #GSHC! Mike #Santorelli (CAN/ITA, 30, Att.), qui compte 410m NHL, arrive d'Anaheim. Info @yesFMGeneve " I assume it is a one-year deal, similar as Chris Versteeg Remember Geneva has hired Mike Gillis during this summer too. I imagine his old connexion with the played has helped the transaction.

Toews
The Swiss league has been doing well attracting some fringe NHLers. I imagine they pay a decent amount of salary and you get to play in a pretty nice country. Seems like a safer option than fighting it out on a PTO. PlanB
Having spent quite a bit of time in Switzerland and a few weeks in Russia, I'd take Switzerland anytime over Russia all things (hockey/life ) considered. So many Swiss speak English, lots of English schools there, equal quality of life there as to NA, ect... Not a huge sample size for Russia I'll admit, but it's a place in liked to visit, not live. Lots of these Europe-bound guys have NHL clauses so wouldn't surprise me to see them in the NHL if a last minute team invites them to camp. apollo
Still baffled we let this guy go after he was producing and getting 20 minutes some nights... But again torts was loco and that explained the minutes but still. Can't believe we let a local boy like him walk, he's a reliable bottom 6 forward
wshdrvvn
in hindsight, woulda been easy to hold onto Santo and leave the Linden Vey experiment for another team.

Kakanucks
So apparently Santorelli has decided to retire due to injury. Best wishes to him. Quote It looks as though just six games into the Swiss League (NLA) season, Mike Santorelli has announced that, effective immediately the forward is retiring from playing hockey. Santorelli, 30, signed a two-year contract and headed to Europe for the 2016-17 season. Now with a goal and four points in his six games played he has decided that due to an injury that is not healing the way he feels it should he is returning to Canada and hanging up his skates. The Geneve-Servette HC has agreed to release him from his contract and allow the injured player to retire and head home. The Vancouver native, whom holds dual citizenship with Canada and Italy, was a sixth round, 178th overall, draft pick for the Nashville Predators in the 2004 NHL Draft. The 6-foot, 190-pound forward went the collegiate route and played three campaigns with the Northern Michigan University Wildcats. Making his NHL debut with the Predators in the 2008-09 season, Santorelli went on to play in 406 career NHL games before he opted to head to Europe to start this season. During his NHL career he scored 64 goals and 138 career points with time spent with the Predators, Florida Panthers, Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Ducks. http://www.todaysslapshot.com/from-the-ice/mike-santorelli-announces-retirement/

thundernuts
I really liked him here. I thought most nights, he was the most exciting player on the Canucks. Unfortunately, his size and age lost him a spot on the team so that Linden Vey could have a shot.
thad
This guy coulda been the 4th line centre on any cup winning team in the last 6 years. Heart like the honey badger and the smarts to be a presence 99 nights out of 100. Shame he had to bow out a little early.. Congrats on a solid career, Mike. You're a damn good hockey player.
