[Discussion] If CDC ran the canucks

Recommended Posts

i doubt anything would get done because everyones opinions are different...would we take everyone's opinions, go by majority rules, or just fight forever...we would have trouble getting other teams to trade us the players we want for higgins and sbisa...dumb teams...

what might this team look like?

We'd be bankrupt within 3 seasons, the roster will have changed at LEAST 150 times, Every time a player goes a single game without putting up a point he's traded for whichever flavour of the week put up a hat trick the night before.

we would all take turns having our own favourite songs as the opening theme, call up all the young guys, waive all the old guys, trade for stamkos, beer at rogers arena will literally cost and arm and a leg-- just because, there are no such thing as no trade clauses, some people will straight up tell the players that they're all expendable, and if they arent scoring every night, yer outta here. i won't do that though. i should be the emperor of making all of the decisions

Our draft research would consist of finding the 'best dangles' in prospects' youtube highlight reels.

We would piss off every GM by repeatedly offering them our current equivalent of Raymond+Ballard+1st for every good player that becomes available.

I think the irony is that the roster would look very similar to what it looks like now. Because when CDC people find out what the players they want to get rid of are REALLY worth, they'll choose to keep them. We'd never agree to do a full rebuild, so we'd never trade away any of our valuable veterans. Boeser would be playing with the Sedins this year, Virtanen would be playing with Baertschi and Horvat instead of in Utica like he probably will unless he has a great camp.

We'd need like 35 roster spots on the NHL team, because guys like Brendan Gaunce would be on the team, but we wouldn't trade guys like Burrows, Hansen etc... because they aren't worth what it is thought they are worth on these forums. Something like this.

we'd be caught in an eternal struggle between two simultaneously self-cancelling processes.

opposing factions would try to simultaneously do a full rebuild and try to make the playoffs every year (cause hey, once you're in you never know what could happen!).

which is to say, we would be exactly the same as we currently are.

With the eventual end of the team when all 50 contracts end up being traded for draft picks.

Accurate.

We'd trade all those useless 2nd, third and fourth round picks for guaranteed bottom six plugs because of the percentage chance they have of making the NHL while keeping the 5th and on picks cause Detroit. We also keep the first pick to to draft a rookie for use in a trade for a player that'll help us immediately.

We'd move and 18/19 year olds for 24 plus "stopgaps" unless they knocked their rookie year out of the park, even then we'd keep those rookies in the bottom six till they are thirty.

Then we'd sign 30 plus year old UFA's to retirement deals that can't be bought out or traded.

Best part is we can repeat the process indefinitely while claiming that injuries hurt us and there are no quick fixes (while attempting to fix quickly).
