Toews
James Mirtle @mirtle Coyotes put Antoine Vermette on waivers. Will be bought out. Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC Something odd today. ARIZ has put Antoine Vermette on waivers for purpose of buyout. Probably one of the strangest moves of the offseason.
Xur
17 goals last year. Interesting indeed.
You Mad Bro?
55 points last year. $3.75m for one more year. That's really odd
Art Vandelay
Maybe to extent the cap hit on to next year as well, to reach the floor....grasping at straws to see why he would be bought out. Because he is definitely tradeable at the trade deadline for some assets, at least.

HerrDrFunk
Huh...the only thing I can think of is there's some issue with management or something messed up happened in his personal life that hasn't come out yet.
hiebskey
He plays c/lw right? Might be an OK fit for a year or two.
oldnews
It's too late to tank for your Arizona boy. This is a player that would make a lot of NHL teams better. Elite faceoff guy. Good underlying numbers - solid two way player - still producing very respectable numbers. No real signs of decline. Reasonable cap hit and only one year of term. WTF is this? Monty
Huh. Stranger things have happened. Toronto's Jeff Finger contract, for one. Or Toronto's Stephan Robidas contract, for another. Or Toronto's David Clarkson contract. Or Toronto's...

Yeah, he is a strong face off man, so maybe he could bump Sutter to the wing with the twins. Seemed to work out last year. Sutter takes some defensive responsibility off the twins. Erickson could play with Vermette and Hansen? That could be a legit second line.
oldnews
Hard to figure - perhaps he wanted an extension, Arizona declined, and it lead to a breakdown of their relationship? But still, it's hard to imagine no one would have given them at least a late pick for Vermette - particularly if they retained a bit of cap (less than a buyout and shorter term).... Seems like a hair-trigger/hasty move to me, but who knows.
Wilbur
I thought the buy-out window had closed? Is it open all summer? nvm: appears there is another short window for teams with arbitration rulings.
oldnews
If he were interested in Vancouver (I guess it doesn't matter as he's there to be claimed), he'd solidify their middle six or give them a hell of a fourth/shutdown line (but likely relegate Virtanen and Rodin)... Sedin Sedin Eriksson Baertschi Vermette Sutter Etem Horvat Hansen Burrows/Gaunce Granlund Dorsett Moving Hansen to the 3rd line would sure give them some depth of scoring. Sedin Sedin Eriksson Baertschi Sutter Hansen Gaunce/Granlund Horvat Etem Burrows Vermette Dorsett Or having Vermette on a depth/shutdown line - they'd sure be winning their share of faceoffs - would be difficult to play against from top to bottom - and the 3rd line would have some youth punch (and likely some easy minutes to flourish in). Probably gives them even more options than a scoring winger - and nicely balances out their forward group. If it were me, I probably make that claim, although he would take a spot from a younger player [but we're in it to win, not idle around].
