Is anyone else here just pumped for next season like Jordan subban! Today I was looking on Instagram and look at Jordan subban go! He's a fricken tank. He was good last year at the youngstars game and was sent down in the preseason last year. This year I think it's going to be super hard to send this monster down. Little subban is going to be our rookie of the year if he makes the team next year, you watch!

Maybe next year.... This year I don't see it. Last years D was way easier to crack, not so much this year.

Yep there's already quite a logjam (good problem to have!). If Subban beats them out to take a spot, he will have to absolutely blow management's socks off. Which I would be very happy for him to do :) But seems a tall task.

With Jordan, imho, we need to be forward looking with regards to realistic expectations.

If he's going to make the big team he's got to outperform a lot of people. If there is one person who can do it it's probably him though. He's got the speed skill and mind to be better than everybody he's up against, just needs the fine tuned defensive game that smaller guys use to succeed.

I don't think its realistic to expect Subban on the Canucks roster this season. The only time we MAY see him is if we are devastated by injuries on the back end again. Think about our defensive depth that currently rank ahead of him: Edler, Tanev, Hutton, Gudbranson, Sbisa, Tryamkin, Larsen, Pedan and Biega. That is nine players currently ahead of him on the depth chart - he is going to have to have one hell of a prospect camp to pass multiple players.

Edit: Not to mention the fact that he is going to be playing with some high profile defensive prospects at training camp also trying to make a name for themselves in Stecher and Juolevi. Subban is going to have to play unreal if he wants any chance of seeing NHL ice-time this season.

I just hope he gets a couple pre season games in this year to see what he can do. I agree it is best to not rush him, let him go back to Utica and build on a solid rookie campaign.

We can afford to be patient with him and allow him to continue to develop and gain strength and positioning in the A.
