I have a feeling neither team was really that concerned with winning that match, knowing that the winner had to play France. In fact, some of the most hardcore fans I know were pretty ambivalent to Germany scoring their goal. Tuesday's going to be a battle, we'll be missing Belanger and Chapman as options too.

Why? Yellow/Red cards? Injury?

I like Chapman - she's a good story - and such a hard worker - always love seeing players like her succeed.  Too bad she'll miss that one - it'll be tough missing those two defenders.

She was spotted with her arm in a sling, but apparently Herdman's post-match comments didn't rule her out for the semifinal. Fingers crossed!

sorry to re-hash the Hope Solo gongshow, but Pia Sundhage's response is pretty on point.

#TeamPia

Winning is what counts.  If you have to bite and scratch someone to do it, you bite and scratch them.

Good on Pia.  That's the correct response.

It's a shame that none of her teammates will be allowed to call her out on her comments made today.

Like some Republicans still won't called out Trump, ya mean?

Integrity & doing the right thing should matter more. That's why I like Romney more than ever.

Even Obama knows a respectable opponent when he sees one,..and when he doesn't. Hope Solo needs to look in a mirror with a far more critical eye.

Don't get me started with Trump.  It amazes me that he still has a decent amount of electoral votes in his pocket as of right now.  The GOP voter base is looking like fools.

My god, some people online are attempting to defend Trump, and it is absolutely funny, stupid, and scary at the same time. No offense, but you guys don't seem to possess too much intellect when it comes to choosing your political candidates/leaders

Don't lump me in.  I've been an independent voter ever since the first time I was allowed to fill out an election card application 24 years ago.

I've said it a million times.  There's an us vs. them that the two parties have as their attitude.  The GOP voters are just happening to be showing their true colours right now.

Fair enough. Sorry for the over generalization. Looks like the United States are in for some rough times.

Anyways.... Will Canada be able to pull it off again against Germany?

No worries.  I didn't take it as you meaning me personally.

As I do with hockey, once the USA is knocked out of competition I automatically cheer for Canada if they're still in so I'll be cheering along with everybody else for Canada to pull off the win against Germany.

My allegiances during competitions are:

1. USA

2. Canada

3. Great Britain

4. The Vikings @viking mamaconvinced me to put them on the list.

5.  I don't care after that.

May I suggest rooting for Sweden or Finland as your back-up plan #4,...to become another honorary viking? We assimilate all. ^_^
