This makes us better?  Is he a 15 to 20 goal third liner, or a 30 goal scorer top six?  He looks the former to me.

No way Dorsett goes for a 3rd, a high one especially...we got him here with a 3rd, his value hasnt moved I dont think but interest has decreased. Dors can play that high intensity game but doesn't produce enough, I say if the CH were interested I would offer dors for 5th...but I may be wrong

He is a bit risky as he also seems a little injury prone.  He is young, so perhaps last season was a breakout year for him.

He already makes 4.65m x5yrs, so the Nucks would be going over budget; especially if they were retaining 1m for Sbisa.

  • -SN- changed the title to [Proposal] Van - NJ +

Why would Jersey trade a 30-goal scorer for that?

Their D-group looks decent and everybody back there plays solid two-way games (Greene, Severson, Lovejoy, Moore, Merrill, Santini).  What's lacking is offensive ability which Luca doesn't provide (he does likely hit harder than any of those mentioned but not sure if he'd be viewed highly enough to be the central piece in a trade for an emerging scorer in Kyle.  The 2nd and Gaunce are solid but still don't think they would do a deal like this now when he has just been locked into a contract with term and will likely continue to produce around better team-mates (Hall, Zacha, Henrique, Zajac, Cammalleri, etc. is a solid group up front).  It might've been doable last off-season but this time around it looks unlikely.

Dorsett is 2.65 million.  Higgyfan was referring to Palmieri.

I'd do it, but still think a short contract for Hudler is a better bet.  Similar style player, but free as opposed to giving up assets.

Wow.....just wow.

btw, every trade proposal that I see that has Gaunce as a throw in is sickening. Why does no one seem to see his future value to this team?

eh? Palmieri is going to be NJ's 2nd leading scorer, right behind Hall - unless there are injuries.

NJ needs goals more than we do. Getting a Sbisa, Gaunce and lotto pick means nothing to them at this point. They have piled up young assets and are gonna start going for it these next few years.

The deal you proposed is ridiculous on a lot of levels. But mostly the level that lately, NJ has managed to fleece a lot of people. No way they are gonna take a step back. Right now they are like, the top team to NOT trade with because they seem to have a knack for screwing errrrrbody

McCann had more of a future on the Canucks and look what happened to him

If we were going to deal with New Jersey I'd rather swing for the fences.... A good old fashion hockey trade

To New Jersey:  Bo Horvat

To Vancouver:  Corey Schneider

NJ gets a future first line centre with all sorts of intangibles and Vancouver solidifies their goaltending for the next decade.

The term "more of a future" is discretionary at best. These are different players who play a different game. McCann had a future in a scoring role only. That's why he made the team last year, the team desperately needed scoring. Not to mention "what happened to him" was that he was traded to fill an even greater need.

Gaunce has a future as a guy who can play anywhere in the lineup. There is no rush to insert him in the lineup which doesn't make him a throwaway or a bust.

The trade proposal doesn't make sense in that the guy coming back doesn't really fit any need this team has. There is potential for secondary scoring but not really in the mode of what the team is looking for.

+1, looking forward to seeing him crack the team next year.

Didn't look out of place in the 20 games he was in the lineup.

Would love to see him tried on the power play and parked in front of the net. Seems to have pretty good eye hand coordination and defense will have trouble moving him without taking a penalty.
