When the Internet first started, being anonymous was the norm.

I based mine on one of my favourite scf fi series - Dune.

The 5th book is called Heretics of Dune, so I chose Heretic.

I used that everywhere, including online gaming.

Funny thing was, id Software came out with a game called Heretic!

I still have my old clan site up:

"The Quakean Peoples Front was founded by Heretic on September 23, 1996."

But I was using Heretic several years before that, back when we used Newsgroups (Usenet) and 1200 baud modems to connect!

Damn, I totally thought you based your name off the game.

My tribute to Mike Walton...probably one of the best to ever play the game..his accolades are to numerous to mention...here he is with another all star..Eddie Shack..look how brilliant he looks wearing glasses.....oh I also forgot the E in Shakey.......I should of made a tribute to both....ShakyShack

I still wear my Rypien jersey proudly. Got it 2 years before he passed. Was disappointed the nux let him walk

I had a buddy who played on the pats. He only played something like 4 or 5 games the last year that Ryp was the captain there. Apparently really nice guy too.

Simple, tell us what your username on CDC means.

Numb3r 16 - I was born on the 16th of November, always used this number on the back of my shirt in Volleyball, Basketball, and Hockey. Also the number of one of my role models Trevor Linden.

Now your turn!

i don't know what mine means?...i don't remember things like that anymore.

Once upon a time I was signing up for CDC, it prompted me to "name" myself. I was drinking an ice cold Lucky Lager at the time, beer and hockey go hand in hand.

Lucky also speaks to the common masses on Vancouver Island, which I identify with; just a regular ol' Island Boy, watching Hockey, drinking Lucky, rippin' doobs, and looking for a good joke to laugh about.

Just think...you could be called Uncle Ben if your taste was different.

Chromeslab is a slang term for salmon but I liked Cromeslab spelling better,it represents salmon being thrown on the ice which has been known to happen from time to time throughout Canucks history.

Seriously why have we not seen this more ?   Find a nice rotting carcass to throw at the refs lol

I keep seeing you on kids' shoes and lunch boxes.  For myself (ironically) I didn't know of these avatar things, so I signed up using my real name.  I used my initials, and followed with the lives part: Alflives.  (at that moment, I was thinking I am old, but not dead - as many who once knew me would expect, considering my earlier life.) Then, posters pointed out the whole Alf the alien thing.  I looked him up on the Internet, and thought he was a cute - little - furry - bastard, so I put his picture up.  It's all really very strange.

So your real name isn't Alien Life Form?  :(
