Sean Avery
It might be too soon to make this thread, but there has been no Canucks news for a while now and I'm bored as heck, so I'm going to anyway. As you all know, the Canucks Young Stars Classic and preseason is this September (early October) and even though we don't know everyone that will be there, I would love to hear some of your predictions on who will make a big impact/impression. There are a lot of players that people don't even have on their radar that could make the team or are not being looked at much. Even if they don't make the team, it will be interesting to see how well they do.
Sean Avery
If anyone would like to know... a couple of players that I personally have in mind is Jordan Subban and Alexandre Grenier. GRENIER: I posted a thread a month ago asking everyone if they think Grenier will make the team. Most said that they want him to make the team, but probably won't with players like Rodin, Etem, Dorsett, etc in his way. It will be interesting to see how he does and if he can prove everybody wrong, because Grenier definitely wants that NHL role badly and is a hard worker and showed a lot of improvements from last season with getting the most points and tied for 2nd in goals for Utica. Most people didn't see McCann and Cracknell making the team last season and said that they think players like Cassels will make it instead, so it can happen. He'll probably play some games this season even if he doesn't, but he would like it if he had a big role for the team this season, instead as a depth player to call up when there are injuries. SUBBAN: Subban has shown a lot of improvements as well since he's been drafted and was the top defenseman in Utica for points and the top defenseman in our whole prospect pool for goals. Even with his size, he can still get it done, but the main question will be his defense. He isn't very good when it comes to defense and that might hold him back from making the team for a while unless he improves a lot. People have players like Tryamkin, Sbisa, Pedan, and Larsen making the team over him, but he's still a player to look out for, especially since he was the top defenseman for goals in our whole prospect pool and the Canucks are missing that. It will be interesting to see what happens with him. I hope that Willie will at least let him play for a couple of games this season... maybe against Nashville? mpt
Like usual when our cupboards are pretty bare, I doubt we do very well. We'll have some pretty good G and struggle to score. Juolevi will look good, Boeser likely won't be there. Subban will look decent, then the rest won't really exist. Hard to do well at young stars when most of our young stars are on our NHL club; not a bad problem to have

Why would I let him take a spot away from the captain Dorsett? Get your head out of your ass and think for once. Who's that Subban your speaking of? I thought Montreal traded him? Okay let me look at his stats... ahah, just some midget Sean, don't worry we have Tryamkin/Chara isntead.

erkayloomeh
Making the d is really tough this year for any of the young dmen. The players that I am really rooting for this year to stay on the big club this year are Gaunce and Pedan.

Some might say that Jake needs more development in the AHL after last season, even if he's strong and looks NHL ready, but I'm still hoping that he has a comeback year and same thing with Cassels. He likely won't put up big offensive numbers but I predict he will be a "Tanev level" player. Perfect player to pair with a Stecher, Subban and/or Joulevi. X-PatLostInEdm
I'm looking forward to seeing Abols again. I like that kid. Not an elite talent, obviously, but a real hound on the puck. Reminded me of Hansen early on. He's got a lot of work to do, but could be worth the rd7 pick we used.
