[Discussion] Canucks will make the playoffs!

FIRST OFF I JUST WANNA SAY THAT OUR TEAM DOESNT SUCK! Hurray! We are just unpredictable. Theres uncertainties with our forward group and our defensive group, only our goaltending is something we kinda understand. With forwards like virtanen, rodin, eriksson, etem, horvat, baertschi, and gaunce how can we know what to expect? Heck we dont even know what we have in sutter yet. Thats what all the analysts are worried about. We dont have a bad team at all, infact id say expect way more offence canucks fans!

First off HORVAT and BAERTSCHI had rough starts to the season but were on fire after the all star break, if they were lit from the beginning of the season we would of had a great second line. Id say expect 45-55 points from horvat and 35-45 for baertschi. Remember forvat ended the season with 30 pts in 40 games and baertschi 21 in 40.

Now lets bring in ERIKSSON, no one knows what he'll do but the sedins and him form one of the best lines ive ever seen. Remember the world chamionship where their line took off against some of the worlds best players.

Last year the SEDINS were fighting injuries, HENRIK might have started in the beginning of the season. Theyll be better, especially since eriksson is a better all around player than hansen. Thats no dis to hansen tho, bless those speedy legs. Id say expect around atleast 70 pts from each person on that line. Thorntons old and had a great season, why cant the sedins!

SUTTER is a wildcard but his goal this year will be to take a defensive role so that horvats line and the sedins can be more productive. Id say dont expect much offense but expect some defense. I say around 30-35 points if healthy.

Now VIRTANEN is no slouch, he will be better this season. If not well at least we have a physical, solid two way player that can pot in atleast 10-15 goals. I think he'll play his heart out tho if played with horvat i see around 25 points. The AHL isnt a bad option tho for his developement. NO ONE CAN DENY WHAT AN IMPACT VIRTANEN WILL HAVE ON THIS TEAM IF HIS OFFENSE IGNITES!

And RODIN, dont get me started. He was SHL MVP and didnt even finish the season. NHL Player comparibles that also did well in the SHL were zuccarello and soderberg. And im not even sure if they were MVP's, but thats a nice player to have. I see people make threads all the time about acquiring soderberg in a trade, well guess what this guys costing us only 1 million. Only thing that worries me is his injury which will probably make him have a baertschi like season from last year. It say 25 ish points from him.

On to our defensive group which has ditched hamhuis, weber, bartowski and will replaced them with gudbranson, tryamkin and larsson. So basically we got a hell of a lot better. Ik people will say that losing hamhuis is going to affect us but hamhuis was regressing. Plus hes getting older, his only positives were that we was a great leader.

GUDBRANSON adds the physicality and also the defensive support we've been lacking. Id say bieksa is a decent comparible. Obviously gud is younger and will allow hutton to be more offensive.

HUTTON will regress this year but not in a way you'd think. He will preform the same way and probably get around the same amount of points, but he wont be meeting everyones sky high expectations of him. Like seriously some expect 35-45 points from him. Give him a break!

Our third defensive line is up in the air but whether its TRYAMKIN, SBISA or LARSSON id say we are in good shape. Tryamkin has good hockey sense and will be better conditioned this year which is exciting.

SBISA was injured for much of last year. Although i cant say he was great. He wasnt terrible either, infact hes actually a good third line defensemen that brings good physicality.

LARSSON is a question mark. Personally i think he'll get 10-15 goals if he sees powerplay time. I mean he was the 5th highest scoring defenseman in the KHL for crying out loud. But again hes a nooby so people dont know what to expect from him. Which is fair...

And lastly goaltending... i think we can all remember when MARKY AND MILLER were rotating starts they were pretty lights out. Im talking sbout only 1-2 goals against. If they are rotating i expect great things plus itll keep them fresh.

And lets not forget, the last games of the season against anaheim, LA and san jose. We beat all of them and that was a team that wasnt as competative as this years roster. Plus LA hasnt changed much, and id say anaheim and San jose are pretty much the same as well.

SO PLEASE BE EXCITED CANUCKS FANS!!

Much love have a great day!

And P.S.

For u damn trolls that couldnt stay under your bridges, I capitalized names so you could easily see the player i was talking about incase you wanted to skip that part or maybe wanted to read it.

i live in a tree tho

also that OP was way too long for me to care. our team is going to be pretty bad next year. you can list anything you want to make yourself feel better and hope and pray for people to agree with you, and people here will, because you speak to likeminded people-- the blind leading the blind.

if you want to pander to an audience, look no further than to canucks fans

i'm also going to take notes of these thumbs down from all of you people at the end of the year when we're near the bottom, and ask, where's your hockey god now

If we are at or near the bottom, that's okay too.  I just don't want to finish in the middle.  The draft can be a lot of fun, if we have plenty of high picks.::D

Have we had a thread like this already?  I remember making a predicition.......8th +/- 2 in the west

Good 1st line.

Secondary scoring is a ???  Sutter has to show us how he can do in the west and the rest have to progress for the Canucks to do better (Horvat, Baretschi, Etem, Virtanen, Granlund, Gaunce, Rodin etc).  Some will but not all.

Defense will be fine defensively and more physical.  Offense from D is a big ???  Will better play all around free up Edler's brain to have a better offensive year?  We know that all of Edler's issues are between his ears.  Larsen?  Show me.

Goal is fine.

You can talk all you want about how good Rodin and Larsen are but their success over the last couple of seasons hasn't been in the NHL.  They have been playing in lesser leagues so they still have to show us.

Honestly i dont think we'll be a bad team, weve beaten top teams with our team last year and we had injuries. This year we are better and those teams havent changed much.

Pretty sure I pegged us 13th in the west.

You can capitalize whatever name you want.  Doesn't make them any younger faster or more skilled.

Bubble team at best.  1 injury away from lottery contention.

LOL the point of capitalizing the name was so that you can see who im talking about if your just breezing threw

So what's the proposal?

It's a discussion (now?), Baggins.

In the Proposals section, you goof.

There are more than just proposals here, also value of threads, speculation and (of course) discussion.

...

So what's the discussion? I mean, are we just expected to agree with the OP, or was there something specific he wanted to discuss.

It's not like we played only those teams.

I think we played them something more than half our games.  We were an okay team before, and an okay team after.  We were amazing while playing in that division.  It was only a thought stimulated by a previous poster's idea that Rodin and Larsen played in lesser leagues.  Maybe our playing in such a weak division made us look a lot better than we truly were?  We barely got by the Hawks in 2011, thanks to the heroism of Burr.

But stats have been provided plenty of times that when we were at our best our record against the East/the rest of the West/playoff teams was very, very good. We were not oversold by playing a few more games against the Edmonton's and Calgary's of the world.

The only truly bad teams were Colorado and Edmonton in 10/11. We got to play them 2 more times than everybody else in the west. Calgary was only three points behind Chicago and Minny was only 1 point behind St Louis.
