Due to the limited amount of ufa's who can fill the need for the scoring/gritty winger the Canucks want a trade is probably the best option.  The player I had in mind is Leo Komarov. He put up 19 goals last season (more than any Canuck who played on the 2nd line) and has been described as a gritty forward who is not afraid to go to the front of the net. The Hockey News has a good article on him in their World Cup issue. He can play up and down the line up no problem, scoring enough to be a serviceable 2nd liner and gritty enough to be a great 3rd liner when our younger players graduate to the 2nd line. He's a better fit than Hudler, as he is younger and plays the gritty style the Canucks want.

I would offer Toronto Brendan Gaunce and a 3rd round pick.

 Your thoughts?

Or...we could just play Gaunce who is 8 years younger instead of trading him and a pick for a 29 year old bottom 6 player that was gifted minutes on the worst team in the league

Exactly.  I really want to see Gaunce center the 4th line this year and get a good look at him.

Reilly? Nylander? Marner? Mathews?

Really,  you want to give up BoHo,  Virt, Boeser,  Demko,  OJ,  Tanev  and our next 3 first rounders?

Slightly exaggerated,  but you get my point - no, I don't want to gut our future,  I want JB to continue to build it.

I only picked Gaunce to trade as he seems like someone the Leafs would be interested in acquiring. For those who would be interested in having Komarov on the team,  I would like to hear what you folks would offer the Leafs. Plus I don't think we should not trade for a player because they're a Leaf. Komarov has a lot to offer the Canucks. Benning wants someone who can support our young players and he can do that.

Also, did I mention he was Finnish? I hear they're the "In" thing right now.

Granlund, just to ensure he's not in the lineup.  Nothing more.  Not willing to part with any prospects for a bandaid solution.  Komarov is a useful player but he's not going to be the piece that turns our franchise around.

Komarov is like Hansen, great guy to have on your team because of the versatility. Contributes in many ways. Always been a fan of the guy, but not at Gaunce's expense.

Definitely not at the expense of gaunce. Gaunce can anchor that 4th line i believe. now we need to get that explosive skill now upfront and on the backend. some of it will come in Boeser and some in our prospects and future picks.

Noooo. Outside of their prospects, which they'll never trade, I wouldn't touch ANY Leaf with a 10ft pole. They literally have three 3rd lines, and an AHL 4th line.

I would take Morgan Rielly, JVR, Kadri or Jake Gardiner any day of the week.

BTW I'm regards to this proposal I remember reading a headline saying Leafs see Komorov as a core player and wouldn't trade him.
