Even though its a trash/troll blog ..some of its kind of funny..Seems more of an attack on Vancouverites than the hockey team.

I'd say before people get upset but it's way too late for that, that's completely their point. They're not just bashing other teams, I'd bet they're going to or have done it to the Leafs as well. They're overselling it for a bit of fun before the season starts.

EDIT: and wouldn't you know, here it is:

New Things That Suck

Well, after a year of wooing him, the Leafs failed to land Steven Stamkos. Wait, let me rephrase that: they not only failed, but reeked so hard of desperation that after meeting with the Leafs, Stamkos actually called his agent and begged to stay in Tampa. I don't know what Leafs management did at this meeting, but I can only imagine it wentsomewhat like this (NSFW).

So, what did they do with that money, you ask? They signed the one-third of Hockey's Best 4th Line that most resembles a cocker spaniel to a 4-year, $10 million deal. Then, they.....wait, they brought back Roman Polak? NOOOOOOO! What are you doing? You were free! You got to enjoy as he got danced around in the postseason and laugh at how it wasn't your team anymore! Why would ever want to go back to that? Per Shanahan:

Quote

We know what Roman Polak is. A couple of years ago he was coming to us as a number five or six. Now he’s coming to us as a bit more of a depth guy to support some of our young players, and he understood the role he’s coming into.

So, he's a teacher? What precisely is he teaching these kids? How to blow a tire while skating backwards?! That does not seem like very sound instruction, even for the low, low price of $2.25 million.

Also, they signed Brandon Prust to a PTO, because they decided they needed more team toughness on Twitter.

If we had kept McCann they would have complained that he's undersized, got pushed around, and was rushed into the NHL and should play 1-2 seasons minimum in the AHL before even trying to crack 3rd line in the NHL. Now that he's gone, we traded away an offensive powerhouse (7th in team scoring!).

Baffling at how some posters on here actually sound butthurt when it was clear from the start that this was an inflammatory article.

It does touch upon a couple major weaknesses and controversial points though (which are there whether we like it or not).

I do agree with the article on complaining about a 4pm game. Every year there is a thread about the subject and it just seems like such a petty issue to complain about. Scheduling is done to maximise viewers. It's not about fairness, it's about money. They have likely determined that a 4pm start is when they will get the most viewers, both from the east coast and the west.

Wait till they skate into Gud's D zone and get flattened...that'll be fun.

and Try in the next shift Lol

The article should have added how that the only thing that Canucks fans should be excited about this year is how a couple of defenseman are going to hit players. The ONLY thing. Since that winning thing sure ain't gonna happen.

The team's rivalries are a joke; their "big enemy du jour" is usually a team that beat them and is generally too busy actually winning something to even notice their existence.

Funny, sounds like the Leafs and Bruins to me. Or the Leafs and the Habs. Or really any other team they consider a rival.

Fans of teams like Toronto and Edmonton have stridently suffered through way worse and still care. Montreal, scum that they are, sat through the torture porn that was their 2015-16 season. But, Canucks fans? They don't care, nor do they even pretend to. Hockey is more of a sign of social status in Vancouver, like yoga, or prohibitively unaffordable housing.

Pretty sure fans in the Air Canada and Bell center are all suits, so saying that it's not a social status there too is just dumb.

Fans in Vancouver still care when they lose, we just don't hand over our cash to the team when they ice a poor product.

Leafs fans bend over harder for ownership than any other team in the league. Yet they wonder why they've iced such a poor team for so many years. If there's any team that has been a poster child for trying to make the playoffs at all costs for the last 20 years (up until recently), it's been the Leafs,

Their bottom six and blueline looks like a list of rejected acts at Coachella

Lol. Two areas that are actually strong points on this team. Do some research.

Oh and just for a laugh, here's the Leafs blueline:

Rielly Polak

Gardiner Zaitsev

Marincin Corrado

Can't say I agree with EVERYTHING in this piece but some of it is definitely on point.

I disagree with his evaluation of our team. A lot of those players mentioned were brought in as part of the rebuild+stay competitive plan. These are players that due to depth of their previous team were not getting a fair shake. This group of Canucks is oozing with potential and if the so called "foundational pieces" stay healthy as a group there is lots of potential for growth.

mccann was a softy that dipsey doodles too much. He played on the perimeter too much, fell down a lot, and didn't seem to withstand the riggors of the NHL. His departure does not heart our depth at all because of the aquisition of Markus Granlund early in the season. I think we basically got rid of a mason Raymond type player.

Everything regarding Canucks fans ( a good portion of the fan base) is true. There's no fan culture, ppl rarely get excited for games and the pride shown by Canuck fans is becoming less and less.. You're at a game not a movie. Be excited  a bit at least.
