[PTO] Jarret Stoll with Blue Jackets

Quote

The Columbus Blue Jackets have invited 34-year-old Jarret Stoll to a professional tryout, the team announced Tuesday.

Stoll split last season between the New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild, recording four goals and five assists between the two clubs.

Prior to joining the Rangers in 2015-16, he spent seven seasons with the Los Angeles Kings - with whom he won two Stanley Cups - as a reliable depth centerman.

The Blue Jackets aren't particularly deep at the pivot position, and ranked 24th league-wide in faceoff win percentage (49) last season. Stoll could certainly prove to valuable in that sense, as he has a career mark of 55.3 percent in the faceoff circle.

I'm not sure how many people are actually aware of the issues he's had with the white stuff.  I knew about the issues nearly a decade ago, as I know an ex girlfriend of him, but not sure how much the media has uncovered his... problem.

Well he was a member of the LA Kings, so there's that.

Ha!  Fair enough.

Torres is another one - though I am unsure if he continued use through his career, or it was only with Stoll back in the Oilers days...

I've known a few folks from Deadmonton, and most of them commented on how bleak the city was, and how it seemed that due to that fact, the majority of the people there seemed to be leaning on a substance to help them along.

Having excess money to blow (pun intended) on it probably doesn't help.

I remember dabbling in the devil's dandruff when I was younger. I seem to remember my moment of clarity being when every time I looked at the microwave clock another hour had passed, and the conversation the lot of us were having about concrete and lawnmowers making less and less sense.

So it looks like Ohio may start seeing snow shortly.

(Not sure how many will get the reference).

It's funny how when you know the guy (grew up with him) how unfair this statement really is.

Let's be completely honest with ourselves. Anyone who isn't a nerd or sheltered mommy's boy has partied with a little snow in the forecast.

Imagine playing a full season of hockey only to miss the playoffs after winning the cup the year prior. Then all of your millionaire friends/ teammates meet up in Vegas for a season ending shindig. You just happen to be the poor bastard caught with all the candy in your pocket. He obviously needs to be a little more responsible but come on, he is still an outstanding dude. It's not like he was going to do drugs by himself.

I agree with you , just so long as you supplant "nerd or sheltered mommy's boy" with sensible, decent person. Then add an Asterix that on the bottom says..

"I'm a poor judge of character" as a disclaimer. Ya know for people like me who have never heard of nuance or sarcasm.

I've got nothing against people who have done drugs in the past but grew out of it/cleaned up. People make mistakes growing up.

When you're 34 &^@#ing year old, it's no longer a youthful mistake.

You can have your opinion and I can have mine. You can have my neg rep for your trouble.

Or have had to see what happens when good friends decide to move to Whistler.  Some of us are smart enough to learn from other people's mistakes.

Anyone who has the balls to admit they gave me a negative rep is alright in my books. I'm sorry you disagree.

Like I said I personally know the guy. I know that his drug usage is extremely selective and very occasional.
