ItsMillerTime
Drew Stafford 50% cap retain to Chicago for Mark Mcneill and Chicago's 2nd rounder/Carolinas 3rd round pick. Chicago might loose panarin next year and they could get some good players and a cheaper option in Stafford also could be a good playoff player. Mark McNeill is still a good prospect and goes with the big tough jets prospects. Jets also get a pick for some picks or if they want to trade or anything. You could be able to do the same trade with Hartnell or Lupul depending on the trade. If Jets have a breakout year then probably no.
Monty
Jets refuse. McNeill is in a make or break year at this point. And the fact that the cash strapped Hawks haven't given him a shot yet, and rumours being that Schmaltz is going to get a shot before McNeill, likely means he's on his way of for a lot cheaper. More importantly, the Jets need another project player like a they need another hole in the head. The team is so stacked with prospects that another is completely wasted at this point. If McNeill is seen as an unwanted player on the Hawks and can't make it, the Jets and their incredibly deep prospect pool would have zero need for him. Also, Stafford, while overpaid, is still an incredibly solid and reliable 3rd liner winger for them. To pair him with Perreault and Lowry is going to be a solid line for them.
