Sven Baertschi Predictions

Still nothing to really talk about... so I wanted to ask all of you how well you think Baertschi will do this season. My prediction is he'll improve, won't be an outstanding player for us, but still a good player and get around 20 goals and 20 assists.

How good of a playmaker/passer is he?

Quite good from what I've seen. He could be a guy to dish the puck to Sutter who *could* score 20+.

I bet Baertschi outscores Sutter though.

Big break out years for Horvat, Baerstchi, and Hutton.

I really hope he cracks 20, but realistically I think

15 - 30 would be a solid campaign for him.

Honestly Bo botched a lot of really nice setups last year in the first half of the season before he gained his confidence. If those start going in 30 assists should be doable.

Baertschi is listed as a sleeper candidate in some of the Hockey Pool guides....the Forecaster has him  as the guy "one the rise" in Vancouver with 20g-22a...The Hockey News has him getting 35pts but they are often wrong.   If he gets decent PP time on the second unit with Bo, and Sutter gets his 20-20 (which is almost a for sure thing given his career and with his prorated production of last year in limited games played with a new team) and Jarvis shakes up special teams to make us less predictable, and Hutton progresses, it is easy to say Baertschi could get up to 50pts (maybe more?).   Which is about what you could hope for a second line winger these days.

I believe that our 2nd PP line is going to both get more minutes and be better with Jarvis shaking things up and Baertschi's hands will be part of the reason for that.

Also he's 23...and entering his break-out time period...

So with all this in mind - and the fact I am a believer- prediction is 10PP goals  26goals overall 25 assists - 51 pts, fourth in scoring overall (Horvat beats him by 3 pts).

I think alot of his production will obviously end up where/how WD uses him and if JB brings in another winger. There's been talk of 2nd or 3rd line. These are my views assuming he plays on the 2nd line and gets "real" pp time over the course of the season

21 goals

25 assists

46 pts with 4 ppg and 4 ppa

I'm predicting a break out season for Sven Baertschi...he's going to put all the discussions about the need for a second line LWer aside by putting up 26 goals and banking 38 assists for a 64 point season.  He's going to make JB look like a genius for giving up a second round pick for him.

I think he will out score Sutter as well.

Sutter can put in 20 in the right situation, but I just have a feeling Baer is coming out swinging this season and rips it right up.

21g 18a.

I'd be very happy with these numbers.

5 more assists. 6 more goals.

That is a good step from a good last season.

All it will take for him to achieve such a big jump in production is a hot start out of the gate and I for one believe he and Horvat will do so. Speed kills and they have it in spades. It will likely be either Hansen or Rodin on their right side (Virtanen being a bit of a dark horse possibility) and they are fast as well. It's going to be a fun line to watch no matter how it all shakes down.
