Lui's Knob
Jeff Paterson @patersonjeff have heard James Sheppard's name linked to #Canucks on a PTO saw someone post Lauri Korpikowski could join as well but couldn't find it. Both depth AHL type players but Benning still needs to shore up the top 9 forward offense (remember last year being 29th in scoring?)

Nuckles80
Patterson and Bitchford read here regularly, I am 100% sure of this as I have seen articles of their's pretty much repeat threads here verbatim. I am sure they also have accounts and troll people. Very weak journalists, if they can even be called that. Patterson is annoying, I remember with his phone in he used to host and he'd go on 15 minute rants and never allow callers on....and a whiny rant at that. Seems like everything is a disaster in his eyes! Chicken little should be his knickname

You can never have too much depth. If the Canucks decide to give a contract to one of its player that signed a PTO, that would make one of the current player expandable and then we could likely see a trade. Fanuck
Korpi scored 40pts a few years back but doubtful he'd reach that here again. Neither of these guys fit the top 6 size/scoring/grit profile that JB has said he's seeking. Nevertheless, competition makes for a better atmosphere in camp, no? saucypass
Always liked James Sheppard. If he does get inked to a PTO, I'd love to see what he could do. Korpikowski has always been pretty good for depth, even scored 41 pts. one year.

stonecoldstevebernier
I don't really see the point in signing a 4th line centre unless they can win faceoffs. Its only one attribute, but we've been horrible at it the past two seasons so it doesn't seem like too much to ask for someone who can at least hit the 50% mark reliably and play in a defensive role. He's played a lot of time on the wing though, and has good size, so maybe Benning would have something else in mind for him.

Maybe instead we should look at Edler or Sbisa and get draft pick and a prospect?

insomniac604
The thing with PTOs is that during pre-season games, teams have a requirement of how many vets have to play. So when you factor in rest, injuries and the World Cup, you have lots of empty seats. I think it says you need 8 vets with x number of games in each contest. With some forwards + G out, that leaves room. PTOs usually don't mean much. IF the guys get signed, it's usually to another team watching.

Bruce Boudreau
Sign em both. Who knows Shepard could be this year's Cracknel and earn a spot as a 4th line grinder playing center if he is good at draws. Thanking Granlund is not ideal to have as a 4th liner. I don't see that getting us in position to trade for a top six (young) forward though. I guess we could sign Russel (is he signed yet?) and trade Edler or - more likely - Tanev? Yes, I could see that. Do you think Russel could replace Edler's minutes?
