Blazer8717
To Vancouver: Austin Watson To Nashville: Marcus Granlund 2017 4th Rnd Pick How this helps Vancouver: Well for starters we won't have to put up with Granlund on the 4th line. Watson is a former 18th overall pick who is 24 years old and listed at 6'4 and 204lbs. He picked up 10 points in 57 games last year with Nashville. While not a huge point producer at the NHL level yet he has a huge frame and is not afraid to use it. I'd prefer him to Granlund because he has the size that the Canucks 3rd and 4th line especially lack. He is young enough and his AHL numbers support that there could be more offence to his game. He averaged 23 goals in his last three AHL seasons and put up a minimum of 40 points in the last two. Watson could immediately step into a 4th line role on the wing and fit in that role. Granlund however, is a scoring/playmaking centre stuck behind Henrik, Horvat and Sutter and will face stiff competition with Gaunce should the Canucks move him back to centre. He would also be a good option as a future 3rd line center when the aging Mike Fisher and Ribeiro retire or are traded. Granlund is still young and capable of developing into a playmaker who can inject Nashville's bottom six with some offence. Thoughts?
ItsMillerTime
Don't think Nashville needs Granlund. Rather keep a own grown prospect.
Fanuck
Um, Nashville wants to lose the beast named Weber and get smaller, weaker and less gritty in the West.....did I miss a conference realignment this off season.....?
mll
Nashville doesn't do this. Granlund is too similar to Jarnkrok who at this stage is much better. He's more versatile - Granlund struggles at wing according to Treliving and he's solid defensively which Granlund still needs to show. Both smart but don't bring enough skills, size or physicality to be more than complementary players. They can fill in where needed but probably not suited for a permanent spot in an offensive role with too many opportunities left uncapitalised. Who knows maybe Granlund can still prove to be more but Jarnkrok fits well with them and they have more promising players in their system than Granlund. It also creates a hole for them. Watson plays on their 4th line - that line is used nearly exclusively defensively. Only 18% of zone starts last year for Watson - by comparison Forsberg is at 77% and Horvat is at 42%. Their 4th line are tasked to shut down the Sedins. That's not a role that Granlund can fill. Btw Watson has played C occasionally in the AHL but only wing in the NHL. Gaunce, who WD said was very close last year, could still beat Granlund for C4.
Hairy Kneel
I wouldn't mind trading Granlund. But his stigma as a a trade item will keep him in probably. A true 4th liner sounds like a good idea (esp come playoffs)

We need that second line scoring before we can include a sure thing playoffs scenery;)
Hairy Kneel
I think we'll be in the playoff hunt as long as we can stay healthy.

Tsn article right here;) Canucks Breakfast: Canucks more dependent on luck than anyone J.D. Burke, managing editor of CanucksArmy.com, says the Canucks are one injury away to either Henrik Sedin, Chris Tanev, or Alex Edler from being bottom dwellers in the league. He says you can just look at last season, and what impact losing Brandon Sutter had.
Hairy Kneel
I think we can survive a Edler or Tanev injury but will be in tough if we lose one of our 1st line. Our defensive depth is better than last year. Tryamkin and Gud help a lot plus all our young prospects like Larsen. As well Biega is a great proven depth insurance for the 5 or 6 spot. plus TSN can go kick rocks as far as I'm concerned.

I like Gaunce in those minutes.
Ojibwa72
We do need the size and the Preds do have cap space. Would they do a Burrows for Watson + something. Would clear cap and inject the youth we seriously need. I do like Burrows but hasn't been the same since Kesler has left.
