NorthernTorch
Received the season preview edition of The Hockey News today. The THN prediction for the Canucks is 30th overall. "Worst forward group in league despite legit top line of Eriksson and Sedins. Defense and goaltending bottom-five, too." No mention of Rodin on the depth chart (five projected lines). Here is the lineup THN listed: Forwards 1 - Twins and Eriksson 2 - Baert., Bo and Hansen 3 - Burrows, Sutter and Virtanen 4 - Gaunce, Granlund and Dorsett 5 - Zalewski, Chaput, Etem Defence 1 - Edler, Tanev 2 - Hutton, Gudbranson 3 - Juolevi, Tryamkin 4 - Sbisa, Biega 5 - Pedan, Subban Goalies 1 - Miller 2 - Markstrom 3 - Bachman Other predictions from THN - Tampa beats Dallas to win the Stanley Cup, Crosby wins the Hart, McDavid wins the scoring title, Karlsson wins the Norris, Matthews wins the Calder, and the Leafs move up to 25th overall in power rankings (ahead of NJ, Car., Ariz., Buff and Van). Reminder: THN is now owned by Quebecor, the people who bring you Sun Media and the Toronto Sun.
ItsMillerTime
Lol wtf is this Leafs don't have a legit 1st liner or legit D core. Also don't know what Canucks lines will be even like. Also anyone could predict those winners for the trophys. I honestly should be a sports writer just gotta say Canucks suck even though they got a legit 1st line, 2 2nd liners and some other very good guys. Ghostsof1915
The Hockey News has really gone downhill over the past few years. I seriously wonder if the really watch hockey or recycle stats. It used to be the go to for in depth stories. Now it's plain sad. Doesn't matter, as long as the team is competitive, and works it's tail off. If the team does struggle that bad, Willie will be gone. Green will probably take over. And maybe the team will get 1st overall. Then the media will be all over saying we're copying Toronto. (Which is what they want.)
Warhippy
Said it once and I will say it again. We love our team. but if every analyst and every expert has us in the bottom 10. They cannot all be wrong. But we'll see how the season breaks down. Plus, no chance Matthews wins the Calder over the kids entering the league this year unless it's semi close and eastern bias just hands it to him even if he has lesser numbers

When they get 1st overall they're following the Chicago model.

Stelar
Sweet, 1st overall pick. I mean 3rd overall after we lose the draft lottery....
Darius
Well, practically everyone says we are going to suck...this is good psychological preparation to keep the bigger picture in mind and not to get too down if/when they get beat consistently. For me the big thing is to watch the youth develop this year AND to see them to NOT get pushed around like they did last year. As a life long fan it was highly humiliating watching them lose and watching them bend over in the corners and in the scuffles more often than not. Hopefully Tryamkin, Gudbranson et al will bring some respect. Its a good thing I kept my draft lottery day BBQ kit from last year. I built up the kit after consulting with my Albertan relatives- draft lottery day is practically a provincial holiday over there. My favorite part is the blue and green streamers used to decorate the patio.
BowtieCanuck
Not that anyone should expect it, but I would laugh if this team completely surprises everyone and not only makes the playoffs, but goes all the way. So sick of the eastern media not having a clue.
Crabcakes
The Canucks are a better team than last year. Firstly, defense is much better with the addition of Gudbranson and Tryamkin. There are hopes for Larsen and Pedan is a year older. There have been questions answered in goal since last year. Miller and Markstrom are a decent tandem. Forwards are better with the addition of Eriksson Health may be the biggest factor. A healthy Sutter will make a huge difference. Edler as well. The team has better depth all around. And the young players are all a year older and a year better. Are other teams in our division better too? Yes. Benning can only work on his team and he has had a decent off season. If Hockey News thinks the Canucks will finish 30th, then they will be in for a surprise.

I thought Las Vegas has been given the 3rd pick for the next three drafts. We would be pushed to the 4th pick. I can't see us being that low! Our defence and goal-tending alone puts us in the middle of the pack imo. Hopefully the media are way off so next off-season we won't have to put up with so much media butt-munching. Most of the media sources quoted this off-season have had an eastern bias and bad reputations as far as past accuracy goes. Where do the Bob Mackenzies of the media world have us finishing? The guy who wrote this piece of $#!+ is the same loser who wrote the crap article evaluating fanbase satisfaction. His name is Dominik Luszczyszyn, and he's an unabashed Leafs fan and a horribly biased journalist. As a Canucks fan, I have no issue with a journalist stating the fact that the Canucks are a team in flux that needs to accelerate their youth movement. I get that. This turd takes whatever opportunity he can to insult. To me, that's tabloid, garbage journalism, and frankly par for the course with the Hackneyed News.
