Suing parents for posting childhood Facebook pics

I have been waiting for this for years.  How many pictures have you seen your FB "friends" post of their kids that you cringe at?  I've seen too damn many.  I have been wondering for a while if this will end up in the courts, when the kids who grew up on FB become adults.  I would absolutely hate...HATE!!!!!! my childhood pics being all over Facebook.  What right to privacy does a child have in regards to their parents?  This will need to spelled out in Legalese as more and more kids want their pics removed.  I for one support this girl.

An 18-year-old woman in Carinthia, Austria, is suing her parents over the 500-odd childhood photos they’ve posted of her on Facebook without her consent. “They knew no shame and no limit and didn’t care whether it was a picture of me sitting on the toilet or lying naked in my cot — every stage was photographed and then made public,”

She went on, “I’m tired of not being taken seriously by my parents,” who, despite her requests, have refused to take the photos down. The woman’s father reportedly believes he’s in the right to post the pictures because he took them. But her lawyer is adamant that if he can prove the photos violated the woman’s right to privacy, her parents could be forced to pay damages and legal fees.

Some parents really need to think about what they are posting before they post.

I don't post pics of my kids.  Like at all and if I do I delete them in a few days.

But

While the father seems like an a**hat.

At what point do we as parents get rights?  Cannot discipline your kids, cannot teach your kids life essential skills, cannot try to teach your kids instruments because it goes against their rights, now no more home work is the watch word and soon cannot post pics of your kids cause...rights.

Taking away to many rights from paprents to raise their kids in a manner they see fit is going south very quickly.  A generation of here's a ribbon just for being here champ is going to lead this world very poorly in the future

Government wanna raise my kids too?

This happened in Austria you know... are you complaining about the Austrian government? What country do you live in where you can't discipline or teach your kids? Its sounds like a horrible and non existent country.

I don't even think it needs to be a "fine line", parents should have a lot of rights, but in the case of an adult wanting her pics taken down, that seems like a no brainer.

I like to see pics of kids when....

a.) it's a beautiful picture that happens to have a kid in it, or as the subject

b.) the kids are doing something rad

c.) the kids are in a funny costume

d.) the kids are on Santa's knee

e.) there are many more I'm sure, but my point is made

I get what you're saying though.

He wants to be able to use the belt on his children I think

Damn liberals!

I used to get the wooden spoon from my Mom, it didn't really hurt, but one day it broke while she was twacking me with it and I laughed at her. Then she bought a bigger, more well constructed spoon, I wasn't laughing that night :(

Interesting. I thought you would be into that sort of thing, Aladeen. ;)

I got the wooden spoon as well...at least, that's what my mom called it.

Everybody else called it a '57 Chevy with a small block engine. Boy, times were sure different then.

I can relate in a way.  This was way before the internet but we had Family pictures taken before Christmas.  So a few weeks later a bunch of my friends came over and said 'They got a picture of you in the mall!'  I was like what?  So we went and sure enough dead center of this photographers ad wall or whatever was the lamest pic of me.  Then the next day at school some kid came up to me' There's a picture of you at McDonalds lol!'  This dam photographer was using the lamest pic of me and my ugly ass smile as advertising and it was all over town.  I say this all the time, I am glad I went to school before there was social media.
