Cut time for Virtanen?

I was rather confused when I saw this pic pop up of Jake on Twitter today. Maybe it's because this is vancouver and we over analyze everything and it's summer so we need something to complain about or discuss. I've kept reading and hearing all summer long about how Virt has been really putting on the work this offseason  and I've seen other recent pics but then this one popped up today man... Is it possibly weight cut time or?...

not trying to bash him here I'm stoked on his as a player but....

The kid has a thick, solid build. You can tell just by looking at his forearms. Endomorph body type.

Even if he cuts weight, I doubt his stocky appearance will go away.

A guy of his build, at 6'1, can comfortably play at 215-225 ish range.

I good example of a similar body/weight stat is Ryan Reaves at only 6'1 but 224 (if not more).

Keep in mind throughout a grueling season players tend to lose weight too.

I think it was Linden or Benning or someone in management who said that they're keeping a close eye on Virtanen.

It's funny though. Virtanen looks pretty "heavy" but yet is probably our fastest skater not named Hansen. And Virtanen isn't some heavy pylon on skates like Lucic. Pretty damn mobile.

But seriously though this isn't something to get worried about. He's being watched by management, there's other things to get concerned about.

After further examination it appears he's has a very large lower frame. He does not seem to have excess weight in his face or arms. He isn't "ripped" but without shorts you can't appreciate his legs are massive.  As previously stated he's a mesomorph/ endomorph.

Low center of gravity + corner weight + meaness = A slice of respect for the Canucks in the dirty areas = time off if your heads down.

That's what I was going to say. I can see it being difficult for young metabolism to maintain body weight. I'm not worried. After all, he probably just bulked up in the gym a bit more, it isn't like he's fat for Christ's sake. He's powerful.

Its the legs that makes it look like he is a bit chub, but this picture was in June before this year's draft.

He just got some thick thigh muscles, which is wear he gets all that powerful strides.  Also helps his stability when he hits...you rarely see him fall over from a big hit or when he takes one...solid strength

Just now, Realtor Rod said:

He was at Abbotsford Chrysler last week trading in his Challenger. Dude is solid. That photo does not do justice to his build. I doubt his conditioning is in trouble. He picked up a new SRT8. Here is a photo from the 4th.
