Police in Los Angeles are investigating after a man was found dead at a residence belonging to former Hockey Night in Canadahost George Stroumboulopoulos.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said emergency crews responded early Friday to a burglary call on Milner Rd. at around 2:20 a.m.

They found a male victim dead on scene with signs of blunt-force trauma. The victim’s age and identity have not been released.

LAPD could not confirm the property’s owner, but reports from local news station KABC indicate the home was owned by Stroumboulopoulos. He told the local TV channel that he was in New York at the time.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said the victim’s identity will not be released until kin have been notified.

However, in a post made to Facebook just before 6 p.m., Stroumboulopoulos said the man found dead was a friend.

“The victim was a dear friend of mine, who was staying at my place while I was away. I am heartbroken,” he said.

He added that he knows few details of the incident, which occurred at a property he said he rented. Stroumboulopoulos made the post while en route back to Los Angeles to be with friends “who are also devastated,” he said.

“There's so much to say but I'm at a loss for words so just love your people and I will have more to say when we know more about what happened.”

Homicide investigators are searching for a male suspect, who was last seen fleeing the area on foot. He is described as 5-feet-8, with a thin build and short black hair. He was wearing a black jacket.

The investigation is ongoing. It comes one week after a body was also found in the L.A. condominium of another Canadian, comedian Norm Macdonald.

Unfortunately, I feel like people are going to read the heading and think that Stroumboulopoulos is being convicted of murder.

Why do you think the OP reworded it, he wants page views. He certainly didn't just copy the title of the article.

But sad that his friend was attacked and killed, whatever the circumstances.

Were there any choke marks? (Edit: I was thinking of someone else. I should have asked if he looked like a hockey fan bored to death)

Maybe these guys had the misfortune of seeing something at a wild party. Tell no tales now!

I was referring more to the title the actual article author gave it. The OP's thread title only varies slightly from the original and I don't think the tone is any different.

I think "I was 3000 miles away" is a pretty solid alibi.

I guess we will see. I am not saying he wasnt, but just like the Charlotte shooting, lets wait to see. For clarity, it was a black cop who shot the black victim, unless of course you are protesting via looting and rioting.
