Canuck Update From World Cup

CanadianRugby

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I made the trip to Toronto to watch the World Cup and though I'd share a couple of pics and what I've seen.  Also am interested to hear everyone's opinions on how the Canuck have been doing at the World Cup.

I was most interested of course in how the Sedins would play with Loui Eriksson.  The Sedins look much like they did last year, don't look to have regressed at all.  It's been a treat to see them play with Hedman and Karlsson.  Eriksson unfortunately has looked to be a total passenger on the line, he's super fast but hasn't shown anything else.

Hansen has been impressive for team Europe, I like him with Bellmare.

A little update:

The tournament is pretty great.  Good pregame videos and fairly cheap tickets (one game the cheap seats on stubhub were $6!!!).  I'd recommend going to anyone next time they put this thing on.  You get to see all the best players in the world in a few days.  The only disappointing thing was the crowd at most games, especially when Canada played.  The Swedish fans were pretty amazing, getting the rest of the crowd fired up.

I think the canucks are better off if erikson finds chemistry on another line.

Having a baer Horvat erikson

OR           baer Sutter erikson line already makes the canucks quite a bit deeper. (Not a one line team.)

They Canucks are better, no matter where he plays. If he doesn't work best with the Sedins it's still a good signing.

No obvious synergy on a Sedin line could be a blessing in disguise for the Canucks.  Let Hansen get another 25 while Loui gets his 25-35 assists by Bo and Baer

How about play JV with the Twins, Errikson with Bo, and Hansen with Sutter?

Eriksson's biggest skill is being extremely slippery, finding space and getting goals from in close. He cycles well.

He's not scoring because he's a passenger. He lets the Sedins play their game and slips the d. As soon as he does the puck is on his stick right in front of the net.
