Bringing a child to a game

Hi, don't know if this is the right section but wondering how it would work bringing a 2 and a half year to a game?  Obviously if he has his own seat we pay for it but is there an age limit for them to sit on your lap?  Just curious, he would want his own seat anyway.

thanks

If you do bring the toddler, make certain he has ear muffs.  It's really loud in their.  Little fellers used to be free.

Might go without saying but try to get seats close to the aisles. I sat mid-row with my twins (age 3 at the time) and must have gotten up 15-20 times (at least half of which were during play). Let's just say a couple of the fans around us weren't too happy about it. They didn't say anything but just gave me a few dirty looks (although at this stage in my fatherhood I'm all but immune to that kind of stuff).

But most people were pretty good about it. Many of the people around us "adopted" the kids for the game and actually helped me out enough that I was able to watch a few portions of the game while they took turns entertaining my kids (and one guy even taught my twins about the finer arts of abusing referees ;)).

I took my boys to see the Canucks at an afternoon game in Buffalo last year.

there weren't any game day tickets available so I found myself fighting with scalpers for tickets from season-ticket-holders selling them off. In the end one gracious Sabres fan GAVE me two tickets!

he still ended up sitting beside me though so I spent more on ice cream and candy to keep the boys from squirming and kicking him all game.

Honestly... don't.

Pay for a sitter and enjoy the game. You won't as much with a 2 year old and they won't get anything much out of it.

Seriously... wait until they are 5+ if you can. You'd only be taking them for yourself not for them... and it really isn't a place for babies.

2.5 isn't a baby, that's a toddler.

It's fine, just bring ear protection, sit close to the aisle, and be prepared to leave instantly if need be ie. your son/daughter is ruining the game for others.

I've brought both my children (on separate occasions) to Canucks preseason games when they were around that age.  While I agree that some of the game will be missed because you're dealing with a fidgety kid, the experience for both my kids and myself was very rewarding. They still remember going, and to your point, I still remember how special it was for me to have them there beside me.

If it was a game that I really wanted to watch and have my full attention, then I wouldn't bring them at that age.  If your looking for a special time out with your kid, and don't mind missing parts of the game, and likely leaving early, go for it.

I think the non-alcohol section is the best bet. Have a pint between periods. And definitely bring something else for them to do like a game on your phone, chances are they won't know how to follow a live game at all and get bored.

We had a couple in the row behind us and a few seats over last year with a kid that wouldn't stop kicking the seat in front of him, and things got pretty angry between a guy and the father. Not good.

We've taken him to a ton of junior a games and he loves them.  Eyes glued to the game at all times, not worried about him losing interest and not a big deal if he does.  He would have a blast, was just curious about the seating.  Thanks!

Get that baby where the suits sit and he/she could be the loudest fan in the section! And you wouldn't be bothering them needing to get up all the time because they aren't paying attention anyway!

But how are they supposed to take their business calls when the kid is crying beside them? They'd probably call security to have the child removed. :P
