Good_Bran_Man
Notice that we play Wpg at home Dec. 20 then again (at home!) Dec. 22 - back to back games at home against same opponent. Can't remember if I have seen this before?...
goalie13
I vaguely recall they did an experiment a few years back where teams would stay in the same town for a two game set. It must have failed because they went away from it after only one year.

-AJ-
Does seem uncommon. I've seen Home and Away back-to-backs, but I'd imagine this variety is more rare, which really makes no sense now that I think about it.
Western Red
Maybe it'll be a blessing for some of the Vcr hotels. "Send a turkey up" we like it here.. Thats all I got,
Roger Neilsons Towel
I'm all for it. Winnipeg is usually popular and sells well. Helps me break even for the less popular games that I lose money on. I'm sure those are good profit games for the team box office as well.
Gurn
Saves on travel expenses and is easier on the accumulated flight time. Can lead to smaller crowds, but that second game could be a good one as the teams may be a bit upset about things that happened in game one. Jam126
I recall EDM and ANA had something like this. I think it was in the shortened season. I like stuff like this, feels like a playoff series.
Hairy Kneel
they should have more of these for the western teams to reduce travel woes...ya I said it injuries and better rest
goalie13
I looked it up. It was the 2005-06 season. http://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/VAN/2006_games.html
Fanuck
Didn't this happen before during that idiotic season where the owners approved the schedule where there was no inter-conference play?
Ossi Vaananen
I like it. Get a good rivalry going in a short period of time, reduce travel costs and it's good for the fans, like catching a concert on the 2nd night. I wouldn't be opposed to a baseball schedule of facing the same opponent multiple times in a week. As it is, travel is brutal. Vancouver is especially rough. Going from St.Louis to Florida on the road, that's not fun. Condense the away games to singular opponent trips and you avoid the added fatigue. Just an idea. Tiger-Hearted
The Canucks played many back-to-back home/home and away/away vs original Jets back in the 80's. When the Colorado Rockies moved to New Jersey, Winnipeg was placed in the Canucks' old Smythe Division. Teams would play 8 divisional games against each division rival. Because of the 2 hour time difference is why Vancouver and Winnipeg played back-to-backs in the same city.
thepress83
I think it's a cool idea but don't understand why one game is a regular while the other is regular plus. I happily traded the regular plus for another game during ticket exchange. Winnipeg has never been a team that I've really looked forward to watching and 1 game around the holidays against them is enough for me.
