I won't be surprised to see him stick at the cost of stech, but imho that's ok. If he $&!#es the bed in the first little bit we can always drop him and call up troy who would be getting top 4 minutes with the Comets and wouldn't miss a beat. No point in throwing away Larson when Troy is waiver eligible and would be the first call-up anyways. It will be interesting to see what they will do if Stecher has an outstanding game tomorrow. I think he will show even better with higher caliber talent around him.

Benning is a shrewd GM and will look to see where he can find roster spaces that won't amount to the loss of a player. He knew to roll the dice on putting Pedan in Utica, and will make the right choice for the PMD position.
bp79
That's how I look at it, Give him a handfull of games if he sucks waive him and call up stech. I totally agree that Stech has outplayed him, but with Troy being waiver eligible, a few games in Utica to see if Larson pans out isn't the end of the world. He gives Larsen the opportunity to play games that actually matter, while Stecher learns from Green and gets big minutes. If Larsen can't pony up the points, he's demoted and Stecher brought up. Stecher's attitude is awesome too.

And if they bump the Nucks from sn, they always show the game on sn 360 0r sn1 until the ball game is finished. That being said I'm A huge Baseball fan so maybe I am a little bias. apollo
Still shocked Pedan didn't get claimed. Guess the other GM's didn't know he was traded to the Elite Predators in CDCP Also very glad.

RakuRaku
Simple logic here.. if Larsen can provide more offense than Bartkowski, doesn't suck defensively as Weber, and just makes the same kind of dough.... is he not worth keeping?? People are talking like no big deal to risk losing him on waivers..... and Stetcher will be our only decent RH d-man left who may or may not sustain a whole NHL season... There are 30 teams cutting there own players trying to get to a 23 man roster, this is the one time of year when it is easiest to get players through without being claimed. In the last 3 years the Canucks have waived Markstrom, Corrado and Pedan in pre season. If you had to pick who was lost, most would be happy to lose Corrado, but keep Pedan and Markstrom. Was never on the Frankie love affair. Still think Pedan will be a big part of this team in the future, just not this year. As for Jacob Well my opinion only, but think he will be our number 1 as soon as maybe sometime this year if not next year for sure. Rollie undid all the crap the Panthers did to him imo. SilentSam
Happy to know Pedan cleared waivers.. now that the dust is settling its great to see how we are balancing out with skill, grit and depth on defence. This cast gives us far more diversity than what we have iced for quite some time..
Quantum
If Andrey Pedan can make some strides developmentally this season, he should be able to lock down a roster spot next year. I expect to see him as a callup this season. I know they want to keep Biega for expansion purposes... but is it possible to have a roster with both Larsen and Stecher on it? And have Stecher and Larsen swap out depending on performance/team that is being faced. That seems like the logical move but I guess we'll have to wait and see how Stecher does on Saturday alongside Sbisa. At this point Larsen hasn't played himself off the roster... but Stecher hasn't necessarily done that either. Big toss up for the Canucks. Of the PTOs, I'd sign Skille. However, I wouldn't be shocked if the Canucks pluck a winger off waivers as teams around the league make their final cuts. Also, I don't expect Emerson Etem to make the team and expect him to be among the team's final cuts. In my opinion, he should've been cut before Joseph Labate. Emerson sure has been a huge disappointment so far this pre-season.Should be cut id rather have Ruttu, but I have a feeling he will be their opening night. Pretty sure JB will sign Ruutu instead....he can play C/wing on either 3rd or 4th line. Skille sure played hard but he's just another Dorsett but fights less!! I'm very surprised Ruutu is so determined to stay in this league and is definitely not desperate for money!

The way I look at it is that i was furious when benning selected Boeser. Then I ate crow hard. Nowe whenever I question a benning move I think of that. I don't really hold Vey against him. We don't know how this would have played out if not for the family distractions. He looked like a solid prospect when he was playing for the Kings. Unfortunately, there are factors that are sometimes, completely outside of the control of the GM.

Larsen, even to the untrained eye, isn't putting up the effort or game that Stecher is. Simple. Different type of player. I'd probably lean towards Larsen to start the season and give him a month to show that he deserves to be here. Benning has said that he wants to keep 8 guys here, my guess is that he sees a couple of guys that he doesn't want to play every night, but wants to give them the opportunity to show that they can elevate their game. There's been some really good players available for free and no one is grabbing them. They are too stretched trying to get down under the cap with their own players. A lot of teams have guys that they don't really want to put on waivers, but are having to anyway. Every once in awhile, something like Corrado happens.
