[PROPOSAL] CANUCKS SHOULD SIGN Kris Russell

I would love for the Canucks to trade Sbisa for a bag of pucks and use his cap to sign Kris Russell. However no one will want Sbisa. If Canucks want to cap off the perfect off season, adding Kris Russell does it. All set w/top-tier blue liners and bonafide scorer Eriksson. Benning did well to dodge a question about the Canucks' reported interest in Kris Russell. Says Vancouver was focused on scoring.  Would rather gamble on Luke Schenn for one year at $1M than Kris Russell at 4 years for $4M. Just saying.

Kris Russell played for Willie Desjardins in Medicine Hat, of course, so he'd know him better than anybody if Canucks want to sign him

Canucks coach Desjardins on #Flames D Kris Russell: "He's always been that player that when the game is on the line, he's playing hard."

How long do you think Willie will be the coach of the Canucks? There's also nothing wrong with Sbisa. He's a physical player who's pretty decent. Besides, our D is set and there is a bit of a logjam as it is.

Canucks need a forward who can score, more than another D.

So because Willie coached him 10+ years ago, he knows him better than anybody?  Nobody got to know Russell during these ten years?  We've got to stop with these junior connections from the Middle Age.  Geez, it's like because he coached him in junior he's going to make Russell play like freaking Bobby Orr...enough with that.

Wasn't Linden Vey suppose to be Wayne Gretzky because of his connection to Willie?

I would only sign him in the following Situations:

-Larsen, Tryamkin, Pedan all have very poor pre season's, and are not looking to be capable NHLers.

-A long term injury to one of our top 4.

-A trade of one of our top 4 to address holes in top 6.

As it stands, I think our top 5 D are set, with Larsen, Tryamkin and Pedan fighting for or rotating in the 6 spot.  If you bring in Russell, you could lose Pedan to Waivers, Tryamkin to the KHL, or Larsen to the SEL, with no assets in Return.  I don't think Russell is a big enough improvement to justify those risks.
