We have a trade to announce...

To NJD: Carl Hagelin

To CGY: Sami Niku, 2018 New Jersey 5th

Thanks to @Mike Vanderhoek for the quick negotiations that works for both sides.

It was tough to move Carl Hagelin, as he was a player we targeted via trade one year ago but with the expansion draft looming, we didn't want to lose him for nothing considering he was going to be the odd man out on our protected list. Carl hasn't had the best seasons the last couple of years, but he definitely has the potential to be a very effective producing third line player, but we have young players ready to push up for that spot. This also gives us another 3M in cap space to try and replace the production we are losing from moving Hagelin. Best of luck to Carl and good luck in New Jersey.

Sami Niku is a prospect we specifically targeted as a return. He had a very good year in the SM-liiga and all signs are pointing to Sami coming to North America in the upcoming season, which will be great for his development. We believe he has the talents to translate his game over to North America and model his game after a player like Sami Vatanen, who also played on the same team in the SM-liiga - Niku is taking similar developmental routes from SM-liiga to the AHL, so we will see how he fairs next season and we are very excited. We believe we added a quality prospect considering the circumstances and we now have a very respectable top four in our system.

I think we are up to pick 19 and its @oldnews pick....I might even get to pick this weekend if Winterhawks agrees to my compromise where we both private message Nail our picks and if they are not the exact same guy, they are both announced as picked and then the draft moves on while we wait for the Canucks comeback to push the series deeper into June! yeah! GO CANUCKS GO!!!!

Chicago Blackhawks Expansion Draft Protection/Exposure Requirements List (Update)

Protected Players

Forwards

#1 Joe Thornton (NMC)

#2 Tobias Rieder

#3 Alex Killorn

#4 Andrew Cogliano

#5 Tom Pyatt

#6 Dustin Brown

#7  Valeri Nichushkin

Defenders

#1 Jacob Trouba

#2 Oskar Klefbom

#3 Anton Stralman

Goalie

#1 Sergei Bobrovsky (NMC)

The Blackhawks scratches Cal Clutterbuck and add Valeri Nichushkin to the Protection List since there is a chance that Valeri will return to the NHL next Season.

He would be definitely a good addition to our Forward Group. Now we are looking forward to the Summer.

The Exposure Requirements List remains as it is .

F: Chris Thorburn , Carl Soderberg

D : Kevin Connauton

G : Eddie Lack

Eddie Lack could be an Player of interests at the Expansion Draft. If the Knights  select him , the Blackhawks will have to search for a new Backup Goalie.

Not sure if one of the Youngstes Goalies will make the NHL next Season.

The Isles have the 53rd, a pair of 4ths and a 5th - all otb for teams looking to add picks.

Will look at trading up in the 2nd round - or other interesting offers.  Price will be more moderate the sooner one inquires - as those picks approach, of course, the potential targets start to effect the unwillingness to move picks.

(not ruling anything out, but not really looking to acquire FA rights, and unlikely to take on a large roster contract unless one is moving out in a deal - otherwise, open to suggestions and offers).

One team picking in the first round that could hold things up (not sure how often he's on). But legit chance we could be finished with the first round before the end of the day tomorrow.

Or so I thought :(

lol ...if he really returns ...it was Kaner who traded for Valeri. One of the reasons why i was really mad bout kaner and kicked him from his AGM Seat. :unsure::wacko:

at the time i was thinking about a 20% chance he ever returns....so it was  deal i couldn't refuse!

Don't call it a comeback....okay LL Cool Jay, cool it....call this a comeback! Mattias Ekholm in one game has made a huge comeback to tie the series for Vancouver (24 point night)....what a game, what a show....literally tied with up to four games remaining -minimum of two-...this is like being half way through the second period....of a really really long game....

Looking to get into the early second round using some of the players listed previously. Could also move one of our thirds in the deal. Will explore any option in order to make something happen.

The Carolina Hurricanes hold the 32nd, 35th, and 38th picks. Advertising now that I could trade them.

However, if those picks aren't traded by the time they come up, I won't be trading them. Will just draft and keep going, in order to keep this thing going in a timely fashion.
