When it became clear that the club would be unable to keep both Sean Couturier and Leon Draisaitl happy with the current allotment of icetime we actively worked to find a suitor for Sean.

Thanks to @Squeak for the easy negotiations and good luck to both players.

WOrld Juniors Primer for the Vancouver Canucks Prospects!

Welcome to the spot light to our young guns and prospects who made the various national teams cuts and will be in Canada for the Holidays to play in the fabled World Junior Hockey Championships!

Denis Guryanov, who will suit up for Russia, was assessed to have perhaps "the highest ceiling as a forward prospect of the entire 2015 NHL draft class" he is a threat with a huge amount of upside and room to grow, one to watch as he is already playing against men in the AHL's Texas Stars with 13 points in 25 Games.

Logan Brown, team USA, plays a full game, two way skills are essential and his 6 foot 6 inch tall frame is a solid 220 pounds when he chooses to finish a check. Logan was drafted 11th overall this past summer by the NHL's Sens and we managed to snag him at 12th overall in our first draft of my tenure here.

Alex Debrincat, also repping the US of A, who we picked at 27th overall last summer is perhaps the opposite of Logan Brown and they compliment each other nicely. at 5 foot 7 inches, Alex is just 170 pounds but is a "pure sniper" with dynamic skills. He skates well, slots into any lineup well and is hailed as a "century player" in the OHL. He already has 30 goals and 30 assists in 28 games in the OHL this year...simply amazing to watch and has a chip on his shoulder most games.

Simon Stransky, playing for the Czech Republic and we selected him 85th overall. This guy managed to go undrafted through all 7 rounds of the NHL 2016 draft, but we believe history will show your Vancouver Canucks of the CDCFL were on the right track from the start. Simon will have a great tournament although perhaps not on a glamorous team this year. Next years draft will see him go perhaps higher than 85th if his trajectory remains intact to finish the year in the WHL where he is a point per game player on a weak team.

Henrik Borgstrom ....we got this awesome Finnish player at 64th overall and he ended up going to FLorida in the first round last summer at 23rd overall. It is nice to have that kind of re-inforcement of our systems picks at the draft table. He is tall, athletic and a natural leader. A late blooming cut above, once he finishes adding meat to his frame this scoring Center will be an impact player.

Congrats to all our prospects on their individual successes this year but we applaud today these World Junior Championships players, well done.

We have a trade to announce...

To DAL: William Nylander + Ondrej Palat + Scott Laughton

To MTL: Vladimir Tarasenko

Nothing but respect to Dak and Tony. Negotiations have been going on for a week but held tight while GM Tony ACED his Finals in school !

Sad to part with William but the goal this season has been to make the postseason and with Tampa and Montreal neck and neck we are hoping this is the kick we need to get ahead of them.

Getting a top 3 scorer is never easy but this is the trade that keeps on giving to both teams.

Welcome Vladimir !

Kevin Hayes - Matt Duchene - Vladimir Tarasenko
Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Antoine Roussel
Cory Conacher - Zack Smith - Marco Dano
Michael Ferland - Nick Shore - Zack Kassian
Steve Ott - Dmitrij Jaskin

Brent Seabrook - Tobias Enstrom
Ben Hutton - Andrej Sustr
Alex Petrovic - Andrew MacDonald
Matt Greene

Martin Jones
Jonas Gustavsson
