G.K. Chesterton
http://www.tsn.ca/jets-to-place-g-pavelec-on-waivers-1.582560 Quote WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets have placed veteran goaltender Ondrej Pavelec on waivers with the intent on sending him to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Pavelec is entering the final year of a five-year deal which was et to pay him US$4.75 million this season, with a cap hit of $3.9 million. The native of Kladno, Czech Republic, made 33 appearances with the Jets last season, posting a 13-13-3 record with a 2.78 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. The Jets will go with the young goaltending tandem of Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchinson next season. Hellebuyck is on a two-way contract and could have been sent to the Moose without having to clear waivers, but he in considered the future in goal for the Jets. His play as a rookie last season (13-11-0, 2.34 GAA, .918 save percentage) and more recently with Team North America at the World Cup of Hockey made him too valuable to leave out of the equation. Pavelec has spent his entire NHL career with the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise. He was selected in the second round, 41st overall, by the Thrashers in 2005. He has a career 148-154-47 record with 17 shutouts, a 2.85 GAA and .907 save percentage over nine seasons with the Jets/Thrashers franchise. The Jets also placed forward Anthony Peluso and defencemen Julian Melchiori and Brian Strait on waivers and sent forwards Andrew Capp, Marko Dano, Chase De Leo and Nic Petan to Manitoba. Pavelec will be joined by waivers by New York Islanders forward P.A. Parenteau, according to Arthur Staple of Newsday. Parenteau joined the Islanders as a free agent this summer after scoring 20 goals and adding 21 assists with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. I really don't understand putting Parenteau on waivers. They just signed him!
BoScorvat
I'd take a flyer on paranteau.
GB5
Parenteau seems to be an enigma. He can score well enough to be a legitimate 2-3 line player but for a team looking to develop youth and get to the playoffs I think he is a pass. I've just never really been sold on him. Warhippy
Was wondering when this would happen to Pavelec. Not much in the way of overall savings but better for the future to turn that corner now. Have to wonder who they'll slot in for Parenteau though, if he even makes it to the minors Will be interested to hear Monty's take on this

It seems either Barzal or Beauvillier has made the team.

RakuRaku
I'd take Pareateau if he was couple inches taller!! We really don't need more forwards barely 6' or below...
G.K. Chesterton
Parenteau's only signed for $1.25 million, one year contract. Some team will claim him.

CRAZY_4_NAZZY
If Canucks are still unsure with Ruutu and Skille, Michael Laata is a name i'd take a waiver for. Plays PK, high energy, drops the gloves and good at faceoffs (51% for the Captials). Kid is still only 25 and Right handed shot. I'd keep him to be 13th forward
Crabcakes
Benning's going to wait until the very end to put guys on waivers I guess. That's tomorrow, Oct
Chris
Teemu Pulkkinen, Anton Lander & Klahs Dahlbeck are all names I would be looking into as free longshots.
