MikeyBoy44
I think if you want to do some analytical highly complicated list more needs to be used. Some team may have finished 9th but if they don't have a 1, who knows how they did in the playoffs which you agree is just as important.
Relyt Krets
  Team Forward Rankings    1. Detroit Red Wings There is no way to not put the defending cup champs 1st. With a roster that consists of so many returning players, GM Lax got scoring from all over is forward group! Having top players Toffoli, Landeskog, Draisaitl and Larkin lead the charge again, its hard not to like his forward group to make some noise again. Its hard to think any different as they led the league las year with 330 goals for  2. Las Vegas Aces Where do you start with this team. Gm JE has probably the best and most effective young core with 8 players over 40 points, and 7 with 20 + goals, this is another team that gets its offense from every line! The best part about it, did I mention how young the group is?! JE and the Las Vegas Aces will be contenders for years to come. Its no wonder that they won the presidents trophy  3. Toronto Maple Leafs This Leafs team has been a team to reckon with for the past few years. making big moves such as the acquisition of Benn has them with the 2nd most goals for last season. With guys like Benn, Nylander, JVR, and Matthews, its hard not to like the high flying offence that GM Spoderman has put forth on to the ice. A team in the hellish Atlantic, but still putting up that many goals in a season says something!  4. Dallas Stars Losing Jamie Benn hasn't hurt GM TRR one bit, In fact some could argue that it has made him better. Acquiring back a guy like Marner who put up 39 goals and 89 points last year, to this past off season in acquiring Sean Monahan. This Stars team is stacking up to make a run at the cup! Though some players point totals aren't as sexy as some of the top teams, It's tough to not look away with a top 6 like this  5. Nashville Predators Nashville is a force within there division. Last year alone having 6 players over 60 points is quite the task. But GM Time lord and his team managed to do just that. With an offense like there and the addition of 2 top prospects in RIce and Paulsson this year, they could very well be the hottest offense this season! Time will tell if both rookies make an impact but if they do, look to see the Predators within reach of the cup!  6. Chicago Blackhawks Though the core of the team is aging, you still cant ignore a team with Toews, Stamkos and Panarin on it. Not to mention young Zetterlund is getting back in to the line up as well as players like Lee and Schmaltz handling the secondary scoring. GM Pk is set up for the now! And who wouldn't love to be set up for the now. This team has been a force from the beginning and continues to do so. The GM may deny that his offense is strong, but dont let those eyes fool ya!  7. Boston Bruins A team with Sidney Crosby as there main pivot, David Pastrnak as there best young scorer, and so much youth in Jost, Veleno, Tippet and more behind them, This team thay GM Nail has put together can win now, and be even better in the future! Having Crosby may have slowed a bit, but the youong guys are picking up the game and helping Boston contend  8. Ottawa Senators You wonder how a team that looks so good on paper, doesn't make the playoffs. This Senators team has a great top 6 with plenty of veteran leaderships, as well as some youth to follow up behind it for the secondary. Gm Bm has a team that definitely comes to play, and this year with some injected youth hopes to make some noise as well as make the playoffs  9. Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid and Jesse Puljujarvi lead the charge for the Oilers. This team is built to score. Though some of the younger guys slumped last year, expect a bounce back from them as they play with fire under there belt. Gm Tigs has established a great team of youth, filled out with the right verteran leadership in guys like Lucic, Silvferberg and Atkinson. Look for the youth to come on strong this year  10. New York Islanders The Islanders haven't changed much since winning the cup. They are still young, fast and efficient. They are young so the only way to keep going is up. i expect that they will only get better as they stick together and continue to build chemistry over the years. GM Tanev has done a great job in being patient as well as filling his forward core with youth and continually giving them chances to succeed. If they make the playoffs this year, the forward group will be a big part of why  11. Anaheim Ducks Anaheim is finally starting to make some noise in the Western Conference. Though Star pivot Scheidt hasnt hit his peak yet, It should only be a matter of time till he does. You would have though a team like Anaheim would roll over dead after shipping out Getzlaf and Perry, But GM Zfetch has shown that is not the case. Anaheim gets there scoring from all 4 lines. Though threre point totals arent sky high, They are consitent and even with one another  12, Tampa Bay Lightning Tampa with Patrick Kane, Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Drouin and Nikita Kucherov lead the charge. It helps to add a guy like Logan Couture to the mix as well, and also have rookie sensation Roman light it up in his 1st year. Gm IK is hoping for more of what he has gotten from his offense over the years, and hopes they can continue it well in to the playoffs  13. Colorado Avalanche Colorado went out and acquired a good young winger in Timashov. They hope he can add to there already boasting offense with the likes of Duclair, Holmqvist, Rantanen and Duschene. Gm Baer hopes that with the forward group he has, that he can prove the doubters wrong and make it to the playoffs. The offense is sure there and if they can really heat up, I'd watch out in the Central  14. Vancouver Canucks The Canucks look to be going all in this year. With the acquisition of Vincent Trocheck, to the already established group of Boeser, Virtanen, Bilek and Horvat.... If those guys get back to the form of 80pts, Vancouver could very well be cup favorites, not to mention in the wrong spot on this list. Gm Vrienzy has done a great job though to build this team to what they have become. But with the decrease in points for some of the better players, that is why they are where they are.  15. Winnipeg Jets This Jets team may very well have the best top line in the league. Laine - Scheifle - Ehlers, is a force to be reckoned with, Rotenberg, Connor and Wheeler bringing up the secondary. Gm GFY has much to be excited about for his future, He just hopes that the now can follow suit and that his elite 3 can lead his team to a playoff berth before it is too late.  16. San Jose Sharks This Sharks squad may be the weird team to see on the top 16 list, But when you look at the forward group, no one is recognizable. However, Hertl and Khodorenko leading the charge in points both over 80 last year. Sokoklov and Barbashev have shown in the past that they can put up great numbers. Not to mention that the secondary scoring from guys like Goldobin and Andersson can only get better. Gm Miyags has alot to be proud of and alot to be excited about. This team could scare people very shortly

Blue Jay 22
Minnesota Wild Opening Season Roster: Kirill Kaprizov - Mikael Granlund (C) - Jordan Eberle Viktor Zetterqvist (9.5B) - Oskar Zetterqvist (9.5B) - Elias Lindholm Pierre Herve-Laprise (8.0B) - Teuvo Teravainen - Nikita Popugayev (7.5B) Adrian Kempe - Nick Suzuki (7.5C) - Beau Bennett  Justin Faulk - Ivan Provorov (A) Ryan Suter (A) - Jean Guy Periard (8.5C) Zech Mudd (8.5D) - Josh Manson  Freddy Andersen Kaapo Kahkonen  Top Prospects not in NHL: 1. Christian Benoit: G (8.5C) 2. Vassili Friedli: RW (8.0B) 3. Tuukka Lohtander: LW (8.0C) 4. Ari Ekman Larsson: LW (7.5C) 5. Clint Heaney: RW (7.0B)  Offseason Report: - It was a busy offseason for our club. Gone is long time veteran and former captain, Zach Parise. We thank him for his services as we begin this new transition and semi rebuild. Mikael Granlund, who has been with the Wild his whole career, has been named the new captain, with veteran Ryan Suter retaining his A, and highly talented Ivan Provorov receiving the 2nd A.  -In a stroke of luck, we managed to land the brothers, Oskar and Viktor Zetterqvist. It is one thing to have a 9.5B prospect, but to have 2 of them can really change a franchise. Only Kyllian Scheidt has had a higher prospect rating than these 2 at (9.5A). They will most likely be the faces of the franchise going forward.  -Gone are Kasperi Kapanen, Pavel Buchnevich, Dennis Cholowski, and Nikita Zadorov. In are the twins, Jordan Eberle, Elias Lindholm, and Justin Faulk. Justin will be our top pairing Dman alongside Ivan Provorov. Elias Lindholm will form an all Swedish line with the twins. Jordan Eberle will slot next to Mikael Granlund and Kirill Kaprizov on the 1st line.  -In addition to the twins, several others will be dipping their feet in the NHL for the first time this year. They include Pierre Herve-Laprise, who would be the top prospect had we not secured the twins. Pierre is coming off another stellar year with Moncton, where put up an AVR over 8, and averaged a PPG clip on Canada's wjc top line. Our scouts say he is ready, and he will slot on our 3rd line to start the year. Zech Mudd, the high risk, high reward D prospect whom we acquired in the Simmonds trade, is also ready according to our scouts, and he will slot on our 3rd pairing while also getting some special teams time.  Goal: Playoffs would be nice of course, but we realize how young we are. Nevertheless, we think we have turned a corner after this latest offseason, and the upwards climb back into the top half of the standings begins this year. The oldest player after Suter is 30, so this core will have plenty of time to gel.
