Vancouver Canucks (2015-16 record: 31-38-13, sixth in the Pacific) The Canucks suffer from being a franchise in transition. The team isn’t rebuilding, as it has two solid goaltenders and an old but still effective top line. Yet, at the same time, there’s clearly an effort underway to transfer responsibility from the shoulders of Daniel and Henrik Sedin and Alex Edler over to Bo Horvat, Chris Tanev and the rest of the emerging pack. For what it’s worth, teams that finish at the bottom of the league generally need to have some sort of goaltending implosion. Ryan Miller and Jacob Markstrom covered for a lot of other sins last season and are likely to do so again in 2016-17. I was shocked that the Canucks are ranked in the basement. Didn't expect this all especially after we added Guddy and Eriksson. Hopefully we prove these analysts wrong and work our way to the top this season. Go Canucks Go! You either prove the doubters wrong or you don't (of course). Pretty obvious that they didn't really realize how AWFUL the defense was last year with bartkowski and Weber. We won the division, and we won it with great goaltending, a Great Wall of China defense, and 1 scoring line. Definitely some similarities. Any teams that do it will be praised, and we are the whipping boy to make them feel better about full tank. It doesn't matter if it turns out untrue. Its cathartic for Toronto fans to point at us and say "at least we arent them". By the time this season ends, it already had its effect and only canucks fans will remember. 2 - group think. They're actually pretty close. If we get an injury to any one of our key guys, we don't have the depth in our youth to fill in. They are expecting we will have one of those injuries. The worst part is they will come up with a ton of excuses to cover themselves. "No one expected horvat to put up 50 points " "No one expected Baertschi to score 20 goals." "No one expected sedins to be rejuvenated by eriksson" "No one expected Hutton to be a offensive D" "Who would have thought Gudbranson make canucks so much tougher to play against" While most fans that are familiar with the canucks will be sitting here like "umm yeah we expected that" We see this team play more than 4 times a year unlike like the toronto media. Are we suppose to do it the oiler way? Cause they had to rebuild a rebuild and still havent figured it out. The flames and canucks have done a similar rebuild on the fly and i would bet that both flames and canucks will be fighting for a playoff spot.
