The reason I say that is I don't think he is good for the young guys coming into the Canucks system. I think he stifles young players and always wants to "season" them in the minors. That is not always the best thing. WD does not adapt to game situations either. At least Torts would fight for his players. Soon it will be 50 yrs without cup. Yup this seems right. The 2017/18 season should have a lot more youth - Juolevi, Boeser, maybe a 1st rounder from the next draft who's ready, plus guys like Virtanen. Babcock and Holland preferred to keep the youth on the farm in Detroit - was that 'stifling' them? There's always going to be doubts when things aren't going 'peachy'. We aren't trying to win the cup this year, we're trying to compete. Management has established the expectations for the team, fans are still dreaming that we are magically going to make a cup run. If Willie has the team meeting management expectations, then he's going to be here and fans will just need to adjust their expectations in line with management that the timeline to be really competing for the cup again is still 3 years off! And I know I've been complaining about WD a lot lately but, I was so excited for the season then I see the opening night lines and we have bo on the 4th line with Skille on the 2nd line. Also No. Honestly I look around the league and right now I can say I’d rather have WD than a handful of other coaches. He makes some mistakes, he does have some bias’s in the players he plays, but so does every coach in the league. It’s not like the guy doesn’t want to win or do good, you can see that he cares. I think the supporting staff we’ve brought in will help. I do think we can win with him as a coach. I fully expect canucks to be competing for a playoff spot this year with WD as the head coach. If Babcock was available maybe we’d think different but he’s not, so right now, he’s the best we got to work with. He doesn't have a clue, Jack skille is a 4th line checker not a 2nd line scorer, we need more scoring this year and he looks like he's just shuffling the lines around and going with what comes up. I hear Roy is available I don't think WD has the ability to adjust in the playoffs, based on the embarrassment by Calgary.
