“Following are NHL club rosters, as of 10 a.m., Eastern time today. Some players who recently have agreed to terms with their respective clubs but whose contracts had not yet been approved by the League are not included.” (Note for example Skille wasn't included in the Canucks' listing.)

Some names from the Canucks' recent past on the NHL opening-season rosters include:

Anaheim: Kevin Bieksa, Ryan Kesler, Mason Raymond
Arizona: Radim Vrbata
Carolina: Eddie Lack
Chicago: Gustav Forsling
Dallas: Adam Cracknell, Dan Hamhuis
Edmonton: Zack Kassian
Florida: Roberto Luongo, Jared McCann
Minnesota: Zac Dalpe
Nashville: Yannick Weber
New Jersey: Cory Schneider
NY Rangers: Adam Clendening (also from the less recent past Michael Grabner)
Philadelphis: Dale Weisse
Pittsburgh: Nick Bonino, Tom Sestito
Tampa: Jason Garrison
Toronto: Frank Corrado

Cory Schieder thumbs up- still good- but so is Bo, plus I'd take back players that cost us unnecessary draft picks to replace like Weise and Santorelli. Cost more to find replacements (Dorsett's salary for instance - but whatever I like Dors he brings the same type of player we need) most on that list was time to move on for them.

Grabner Kesler Raymond (remember how good they were for about 10 games?)

Kassian Bonino Vrbata

Cracknell McCann Weise

Sestito Dalpe Etem (waiver pickup)

Garrison Bieksa

Hamhuis Forsling

Clendening Weber

Corrado

Schneider

Luongo

Lack

I don't know, could the 2016-2017 Canucks beat the castoffs?! Haha

Looks like you missed Shawn Matthias (Winnipeg)...looking at the Jets' lineup, looks like Brandon Tanev made the 23 man roster to start the season.

The player that scares me is Tom Sestito...what if he makes good on his promise that he's going to "get" the Canucks players because of the way he was cut adrift by Benning and Willie?  Oooooooh...so scary.

Seriously, it's good to see so many recent ex-Canucks still thriving (?) in the NHL...too bad we got so little back for the collection of these players.

The sad thing is that all the return value I can remember from this collection of players is:

Horvat

Sutter

Gudbranson

Markstrom

It's not a fair comparison.

You should also look at the cap space we saved by ditching those players and with which we sign UFA's with. If you add Ericsson to the list I actually like what we have better - all young and useful.

How is that sad? Most of the players on that list were past their prime, and the rest have little value. We got Kesler, Luongo, Raymond, Hamhuis, and Bieksa's best years.

Schneider was the biggest loss, but we have a young stud center to show for it and still have two good young goalies int he system.

Compared to past years where we lost vets like Naslund, Ohlund, Mitchell, Jovanovski, and Salo for nothing I think it's great that we have young solid pieces to build around to show for them.

not neccessarily direct return, but here is the opposing list

Marks-----FLa

Mills-------StL Buf

Sbisa-----Ana Phil

Larsen----Dal Ed

Gud--------Fla

Biega------Fla Buf

Sutt--------Pit Carol

Bo----------NJ (pck)

Granny----Cal

Erik---------Dal Bos

Dors-------NYR Colum

Sven -----Cal

I wonder about a few of those guys like Sostito Cracker, Frankie, Clendenning and Dalpe actually playing in the first game

edit and Weber gotta like Nashville's chances if they are icing Weber anywhere in their top 8

edit 2, Sostito and Cracker make their marks in Game 1
